Gift of Love - Optimistic Spirit

The passengers on the bus watched sympathetically as the attractive young woman with the white cane made her way carefully up the steps. She paid the driver and, using her hands to feel the location of the seats, walked down the aisle and found the seat he'd told her was empty. Then she's settled in, placed her briefcase on her lap and rested her cane against her leg.

It had been a year since Susan, thirty-four, became blind. Due to a medical misdiagnosis she had been rendered sightless, and she was suddenly thrown into a world of darkness, anger, frustration and self-pity.

Once a fiercely independent woman, Susan now felt condemned by this terrible twist of fate to become a powerless, helpless burden on everyone around her. "How could this have happened to me?" she would plead, her heart knotted with anger. But no matter how much she cried or ranted or prayed, she knew the painful truth - her sight was never going to return.

A cloud of depression hung over Susan's once optimistic spirit. Just getting through each day was an exercise in frustration and exhaustion. And all she had to cling to was her husband Mark.

Mark was an Air Force officer and he loved Susan with all of his heart. When she first lost her sight, he watched her sink into despair and was determined to help his wife gain the strength and confidence she needed to become independent again. Mark's military background had trained him well to deal with sensitive situations, and yet he knew this was the most difficult battle he would ever face.

Finally, Susan felt ready to return to her job, but how would she get there? She used to take the bus, but was now too frightened to get around the city by herself. Mark volunteered to drive her to work each day, even though they worked at opposite ends of the city. At first, this comforted Susan and fulfilled Mark's need to protect his sightless wife who was so insecure about performing the slightest task.

Soon, however Mark realized that this arrangement wasn't working - it was hectic, and costly. Susan is going to have to start taking the bus again, he admitted to himself. But just the thought of mentioning it to her made him cringe. She was still so fragile, so angry. How would she react?

Just as Mark predicted, Susan was horrified at the idea of taking the bus again. "I'm blind!" she responded bitterly. "How am I supposed to know where I'm going? I feel like you're abandoning me." Mark's heart broke to hear these words, but he knew what had to be done. He promised Susan that each morning and evening he would ride the bus with her, for as long as it took, until she got the hang of it.

And that is exactly what happened. For two solid weeks, Mark, military uniform and all, accompanied Susan to and from work each day. He taught her how to rely on her other senses, specifically her hearing, to determine where she was and how to adapt to her new environment. He helped her befriend the bus drivers who could watch out for her, and save her a seat.

He made her laugh, even on those not-so-good days when she would trip exiting the bus, or drop her briefcase. Each morning they made the journey together, and Mark would take a cab back to his office.

Although this routine was even more costly and exhausting than the previous one, Mark knew it was only a matter of time before Susan would be able to ride the bus on her own. He believed in her, in the Susan he used to know before she'd lost her sight, who wasn't afraid of any challenge and who would never, ever quit.

Finally, Susan decided that she was ready to try the trip on her own.

Monday morning arrived, and before she left she threw her arms around Mark, her temporary bus riding companion, her husband, and her best friend. Her eyes filled with tears of gratitude for his loyalty, his patience, his love. She said good-bye, and for the first time, they went their separate ways.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday ... Each day on her own went perfectly, and Susan had never felt better. She was doing it! She was going to work all by herself!

On Friday morning, Susan took the bus to work as usual. As she was paying for her fare to exit the bus, the driver said, "Boy, I sure envy you."

Susan wasn't sure if the driver was speaking to her or not. After all, who on earth would ever envy a blind woman who had struggled just to find the courage to live for the past year?

Curious, she asked the driver, "Why do you say that you envy me?" The driver responded, "It must feel so good to be taken care of and protected like you are."

Susan had no idea what the driver was talking about, and asked again, "What do you mean?"

The driver answered, "You know, every morning for the past week, a fine looking gentleman in a military uniform has been standing across the corner watching you when you get off the bus. He makes sure you cross the street safely and he watches you until you enter your office building. Then he blows you a kiss, gives you a little salute and walks away. You are one lucky lady."

Tears of happiness poured down Susan's cheeks. For although she couldn't physically see him, she had always felt Mark's presence. She was lucky, so lucky, for he had given her a gift more powerful than sight, a gift she didn't need to see to believe - the gift of
love that can bring light where there had been darkness.

Success is a journey, not a destination

Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal.

Earl Nightingale

Let's look at these definitions carefully.

"Progressive" means that success is a journey, not a destination. We never arrive. After we reach one goal, we go on to the next and the next and the next.

"Realization" means it is an experience. Outside forces cannot make me feel successful. I have to feel it within myself. It is internal not external.

"Worthy" refers to our value system. Which way are we heading? Positive or negative? Worthiness determines the quality of the journey. That is what gives meaning and fulfillment. Success without fulfillment is empty. Why?

"Goals" are important. Because they give us a sense of direction. Success does not mean being accepted by everyone.

There are some groups I would not want to be accepted by, out of choice. I would rather be criticized by fools than appreciated by unsavory characters. I define success as a manifestation of good luck that results from inspiration, aspiration, desperation and perspiration; generally in that sequence. Success and happiness go hand in hand.

Success is getting what you want and happiness is wanting what you get!

Awww.. m growing old...!!

Birthday is the day on which you realize that all of a sudden you expect something.. you want something.. and you dreamt of hell lot of things from your life. On the same time you got to know that so less time left to accomplish goals set years ago.

Its true that life is like a river and we have to float as per the flow but if this journey with myself of life has no direction then there will be no destination and we will be like "Distance travelled unlimited but final Displacement Zero" as we will reach nowhere.

So from my wish list i picked up small little cute gift and presented myself a new look on my birthday.
Got my hair smoothing done finally. (Rebonded)

Cheers
Happy Birthday to me ;-)

12. Story of Ganesha and Kartikeya Quarrel (Shiv Puran)

Shiva and Parvati had two sons, Ganesha and Kartikeya. Both sons wanted to get married. And Shiva and Parvati found it difficult to decide who should be married first. The other one was bound to feel hurt. Both the sons were equally dear to them.

They decided to have a test. They called Ganesha and Kartikeya to them and said, We have devised a competition. Both of you have to travel around the world and return here. Whoever returns first will be married first. That should be fair and square.

As soon as these words were out, Kartikeya dashed out on his journey. But Ganesha tarried and pondered. He realized that this was a task that was impossible for him to accomplish. He found it difficult enough to travel a couple of miles.

Ganesha found a solution. First, he bathed. Then, he made Shiva and Parvati sit on two seats. He worshipped them and circled them seven times. After he finished circling them. Ganesha said, Now please make arrangements for my wedding.

What do you mean, exclaimed Shiva and Parvati. Didn't you hear what we said? We asked the two of you to travel around the world and come back. You'd better hurry. Kartikeya has already left. If you don't take care, he will beat you to it.

But I have already been round the world seven times, replied Ganesha. Haven't I circled the two of you seven times? The Vedas say that circling one's parents is the same thing as circling the world.

If you do not wish to argue that the Vedas are wrong, then you have to agree that I have circled the world seven times.

Shiva and Parvati could not very well argue that the Vedas were wrong. They therefore had to accept Ganesha's logic. Arrangements were made for his wedding. Vishvarua, the son of Kashyapa, had two daughters named Siddhi and Buddhi. These two were married to Ganesha with a lot of fanfare. Ganesha and Siddhi had a son named Laksha and Ganesha and Buddhi had a son named Labha.

Kartikeya returned to Kailasa after traveling around the world and discovered that Ganesha was already married and was already the proud father of two children. He heard the entire story from Narada and felt that he had been cheated. He decided that he would no longer live with his parents.

He also decided that he would never marry. That is the reason why Kartikeya is called Kumara, someone who is not married.

Kartikeya began to live on Mount Krouncha. Shiva goes to visit him there on the day of the newmoon (amavasya) and parvati goes to visit him on the day of the moon (purnima).

Gita Saar for Management Gurus (In Short)

One of the greatest contributions of India to the world is Holy Gita which is considered to be one of the first revelations from God.
Bhagavad‐Gita the essence of Vedic Literature and a complete guide to practical
life. It provides "all that is needed to raise the consciousness of man to the highest possible level."
Arjuna got mentally depressed when he saw his relatives with whom he has to fight.
(Mental health has become a major international public health concern now). To motivate him the
Bhagavad Gita is preached in the battle field Kurukshetra by Lord Krishna to Arjuna as counseling to
do his duty while multitudes of men stood by waiting. It has got all the management tactics to
achieve the mental equilibrium and to overcome any crisis situation. The Bhagavad Gita can be
experienced as a powerful catalyst for transformation. Bhagavad Gita means song of the Spirit, song
of the Lord. The Holy Gita has become a secret driving force behind the unfoldment of one's life. In
the days of doubt this divine book will support all spiritual searches. This divine book will contribute
to self reflection, finer feeling and deepen one's inner process. Then life in the world can become a
real education—dynamic, full and joyful—no matter what the circumstance. May the wisdom of
loving consciousness ever guide us on our journey? What makes the Holy Gita a practical psychology
of transformation is that it offers us the tools to connect with our deepest intangible essence and we
must learn to participate in the battle of life with right knowledge?
The Holy Gita is the essence of the Vedas, Upanishads. It is a universal scripture applicable to people
of all temperaments and for all times. It is a book with sublime thoughts and practical instructions on
Yoga, Devotion, Vedanta and Action. It is profound in thought and sublime in heights of vision. It
brings peace and solace to souls that are afflicted by the three fires of mortal existence, namely,
afflictions caused by one's own body (disease etc), those caused by beings around one (e.g. wild
animals, snakes etc.), and those caused by the gods (natural disasters, earth‐quakes, floods etc).
Mind can be one's friend or enemy. Mind is the cause for both bondage and liberation. The word
mind is derived from man to think and the word man derived from Manu (Sanskrit word for man).
"The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone's heart, O Arjuna, and is directing the wanderings of all
living entities, who are seated as on a machine, made of the material energy."
There is no theory to be internalized and applied in this psychology. Ancient practices spontaneously
induce what each person needs as the individual and the universal coincide. The work proceeds
through intellectual knowledge of the playing field (jnana yoga), emotional devotion to the ideal
(bhakti yoga) and right action that includes both feeling and knowledge (karma yoga). With ongoing
purification we approach wisdom. The Bhagavad Gita is a message addressed to each and every
human individual to help him or her to solve the vexing problem of overcoming the present and
progressing towards a bright future. Within its eighteen chapters is revealed a human drama. This is
the experience of everyone in this world, the drama of the ascent of man from a state of utter
dejection, sorrow and total breakdown and hopelessness to a state of perfect understanding, clarity,
renewed strength and triumph.
Mind is very restless, forceful and strong, O Krishna, it is more difficult to control the mind than to
control the wind ~ Arjuna to Sri Krishna

In this modern world the art of Management has become a part and parcel of everyday life, be it at
home, in the office or factory and in Government. In all organizations, where a group of human
beings assemble for a common purpose irrespective of caste, creed, and religion, management
principles come into play through the management of resources, finance and planning, priorities,
policies and practice. Management is a systematic way of carrying out activities in any field of
human effort.
Its task is to make people capable of joint performance, to make their weaknesses irrelevant, says
the Management Guru Peter Drucker. It creates harmony in working together ‐ equilibrium in
thoughts and actions, goals and achievements, plans and performance, products and markets. It
resolves situations of scarcity, be they in the physical, technical or human fields, through maximum
utilization with the minimum available processes to achieve the goal. Lack of management causes
disorder, confusion, wastage, delay, destruction and even depression. Managing men, money and
materials in the best possible way, according to circumstances and environment, is the most
important and essential factor for a successful management. It should literally transform how people
think and help them finally realize the potential of a truly universal knowledge that is wisdom.

Life Before Wedding (LBW)

Telugu Cinema has come up with very good realistic movie. I liked it and would like to share it if you
have not seen it. So here it goes.

The film is all about the ever-changing relationships that influence the
lives of different people.

The film has two parallel stories which chronicle the lives of these six characters
and how their relationships change over a period of time.
The film revolves around two stories, six main characters and their journey
make certain decisions that will set to change their lives irrevocably.

Story one : Rishi (Siddhu) and Jai (Abhijeet) are good friends living in Hyderabad.
While Rishi is a little temperamental and hyperactive, Jai is quite cool and like the saying opposite
poles attract, they become good friends. They come across Anu (Nishanti Evani).
Anu is a systematic, principled girl and is quite reserved girl. She does not
entertain Rishi, who attempts to flirt her. This helps Jai to get close to Anu
and develop friendship, which turns into love finally. While this triangular
love story runs in India. Jai got an offer to work abroad. He went away for work but
Anu`s parents started finding good match for her marriage.
Anu asked Jai to come and marry her but he got so busy in her work that coudln`t
come back to India to marry Anu. Finally Anu`s marriage fixed to some other guy.
He came in the end just before one hour left in marriage and asked to stop the marriage
but in vain. He lost Anu and regrets about it.

Story two : Another love story runs parallel in Dallas,U.S.A. Rajesh (Rohan) and Radhika (Chinmayi)
are also good friends. Once Radhika feels like she was in love with Rajesh and
proposes him. However, Rajesh is under the impression that theirs is a deep
friendship and rejected her offer. Now, Varun (Asif Tej), an Indian-born American
enters their lives. Varun develop friendship with Radhika which turns into love
and they both get married. Now Rajesh aslo realised her love for Radhika but its
too late and he lost Radhinka and regrets about it.

BUT BUT BUT

In a twist of fate, the events change dramatically and as situations
unfold between the characters, they stand at crossroads where future is staring in
their faces with changes irreversible!

DESTINY has its own plans.
In The END : Rajesh and Anu both who lost their love and get married by chance.

Embrace all Equally

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to
where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with a bag of potato chips
and a six-pack of root beer and started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an old woman.
She was sitting in the park, just staring at some pigeons.
The boy sat down next to her and opened his suitcase.
He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that
the old lady looked hungry, so he offered her some chips.
She gratefully accepted it and smiled at him.

Her smile was so pretty that the boy wanted to see it again,
so he offered her a root beer. Again, she smiled at him.
The boy was delighted! They sat

There all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.

As twilight approached, the boy realized how tired he was and
he got up to leave; but before he had gone more than a few steps,
he turned around, ran back to the old woman, and gave her a hug.
She gave him her biggest smile ever.

When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later,
his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face.
She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?"
He replied, " I had lunch with God." But before his mother could
respond, he added, "You know what? She's got the most beautiful
smile I've ever seen!"

Radha Krishna

Krishna was with all the devos in sabha. He started to vibrate and from his own body his shakti came out in the form of Radha. She was so beautiful, and Krishna was so shyam. Someone made fun of their couple. Radha got angry and cursed him. That same person cursed Radha and said she will never be able to unite with Krishna (will not get married).

However, there is the story of Radha and Krishna getting married by Brahma in the forest.

Radha is Krishna's energy/shakti. He cannot live without her, and she cannot live without him. She is not a woman, nor a jiva. She is a part of Krishna. She did not take birth. She emerged from him. Literally, they are one. You cannot have an image of Krishna alone. Krishna alone is incomplete without his Radha.

In some descriptions, radha was actually a married woman. it was she who is said to indulge in an affair with krishna. even if it was not so, the relationship of radha and krishna were on a different plane, and they were actually the same being, just god in the form of man and woman. their love was pure and spiritual, and cannot be purified further by the bond of marriage.

Radha and Krishna are said to be one. Their love is eternal. What is marriage? Marriage is a sacrament (Sanskara), a rite enabling two individuals to start their journey in life together. In a Hindu wedding, the multiplicity of creation becomes possible when spirit (Purush) unites with matter (Prakritti). Krishna and Radha being one did not need the basis of marriage.

This is of course my point of view, from what i have read and gathered. I myself am totally in love with Lord Krishna.

@ Cafe Coffee Day

I looked around at all the "couples" who sat around me.Holding hands.Shy smiles.Loud giggles.People in "love" maybe.

Love. As in , the "boy-girl" love.

You would have heard this word."Love"
It is as overused a word. For a bollywood director , "love" must be the greatest invention ever .
My friend says he is in "love" with the girl who works at the second floor of his office.I am told the punjabi girl in my class is in "love" with the hairy south indian guy in the next class. The other day , I saw the boy who hands out the food in my office canteen , with the girl who does the dishes.Maybe , they are in "love" too.
Even the cyber world is bustling with desperate flirts who hope to find "love".
And then this boyfriend-girlfriend thing. Its like a toothbrush. You got to have one.
" Hi , I have brain cancer."
Thats ok , we all gotta die anyways.
"Hello , I got limphoosirkoma of the intestine."
Chill , Rajesh Khanna in "anand" had it too.
"Namaste , my house burned down last night."
Arre tension nahi yaar , these things happen.
"Hey , I dont have a girlfriend."
What ! Why did not you tell me about this ? Oh poor boy , everything will be fine.God can be real cruel sometimes...
So love is like the neighbourhood gossip .Everybody knows about love.Talks about love.
And the way this "love" word is used , leaves me feeling strange.
I feel there are two different aspects. To love someone. And to be loved. It is said "to be loved" is a natural need. And for me , its a need and not love.As long as you want this person or need this person , you dont love him , you love yourself and want "to be loved".Love is not meant to be a selfish thing.Love is much harder and selfless than that.To love is not to wish for someone to be with oneself , but to give up oneself for that someone.Love is not in sharing coconut water on some beach, but in staying thirsty if it helps him.Love is not in him coming to you , but to care for him when you know he would not come to you.
For me , true love is not about the scene with your boy , where white clouds float around your ankles , and a cool breeze flows across the screen , well fed european guys play violins in the background , and you do a salsa with him and kiss him.For me , love's beauty is in being so consumed with it , that you forget your pains and smile , just because he smiled somewhere , aware of your existence no longer.
Love is not about wanting him , but wanting him happiness , with you or without you.
See,I am no authority.I am no love guru .I am no headmaster of the "Institute of Love Matters" ( ILM..doesnt sound bad ).But the way love is seen as some "coochie-coochie-valentines-gift-holding hands" concept leaves me feeling funny.Love is hard.Love is not a punishment which leaves you restless. But it is something which makes you feel a bliss in a punishment , just because he is happy.
I am not looking at any roses placed between yellowed pages. And I do not wish to insult anyone's feelings.Just that I feel, that to love someone is supposed to be something very deep and heartfelt, that when you say "I love you" to a boy, realise the responsibility and commitment it stands for. Its not about you anymore. Its about him.And I am not trying to preach anything here , please. Just that I felt something and wrote it.
