Love shouldn`t be sacrificed - 'Gnomeo and Juliet’- A Happy Ending

Imagine a world where Romeo and Juliet did not say farewell. Imagine a different ending to one of the most famous Shakespearian plays, not ending with two people dying in the name of love.
In Touchstone’s new animated movie, “Gnomeo and Juliet”, two little gnomes try to define what true love is by living a life that reenacts William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Separated by a long garden war, Blue and Red gnomes rage in a bitter battle over who has the most beautiful garden.
What began as a simple quest to get the Cupid’s orchid from a garden next door, Juliet, voiced by Emily Blunt, leaves the Red garden. While she is trying to retrieve the flower she bumps into someone very unexpectedly, Gnomeo, voiced by James McAvoy, a gnome from the Blue Garden.
Debating whether or not she should even have feelings for Gnomeo, Juliet talks to her friend Nanette, the garden frog, to see what should be done. Eventually, Juliet decides love is worth more than a gnome battle, due to Nanette telling her “her love is dead. Her love is doomed.”
Because Juliet’s father, Lord Redbrick, has no clue that Gnomeo and Juliet are secretly in love, he asks the garden’s flower genius Paris to court Juliet. But, Juliet does not have any feelings for him. Nanette steps in and she falls in love with Paris.
From there, it becomes harder for Gnomeo and Juliet to encourage the war between Red and Blue to continue. Even after the Blue’s most prized flower plant is destroyed, Gnomeo tries to stop the war without giving up his secret and creating an even more confusing battle between the two Gnome families.
Unlike the play’s constant dry dialogue, it is more colorful and filled with life. It has many comical references to the actual play with play on words.
This play continues to be brought to life by Touchstone. Even though this is a story that has been told more than once, this view was not dull or boring. Instead, the writers and creators found a new way to brighten up the Shakespearean play and make it extremely family friendly.
Throughout this movie, the conflict between good and evil is even more relevant, and the message is that one’s love should not be sacrificed based on what others think.
In this new twist to Romeo and Juliet, Touchstone shows how there is always a happily ever after story no matter what the situation is.
“Gnomeo and Juliet” is extremely fast paced for an animated movie. The plot makes Shakespeare’s play more bearable, even though there are several changes.
From a Christian worldview, the message to put others before yourself is conveyed. Juliet personifies this message when she is debating whether or not she should leave with Gnomeo. She questions herself as to what would happen to her family, the Red garden, and how her father would react if she did leave with a Blue Gnome.
She debated whether or not she should sacrifice her own happiness in order to please her father and others.
“Gnomeo and Juliet” is rated G for all ages, but do not let the rating scare you. Even though it might seem as though it would be a little too childish, this movie is worth it. It is worth a night off from your homework to see this little cartoon.

How To Handle Feedback

An important skill for achieving success in life is learning how to respond to feedback from the people around you. When you master this skill you’ll have the power to improve almost every aspect of your life.

feedback

There are three different types of feedback:
(1) Positive feedback
(2) Constructive negative feedback
(3) Destructive negative feedback
How To Handle Positive Feedback
Positive feedback is a gift and it should be acknowledged and appreciated like any other gift. Surprisingly, many people dismiss positive feedback with off hand comments. Do any of these examples sound familiar to you?
Feedback: "You look beautiful tonight"
Response: "No I don’t, I just look the same as always"
Feedback: "You did a great job on that report"
Response: "Oh, it was nothing"
Feedback: "I love your necklace!"
Response: "It’s not real, its a fake"
Making dismissive comments like this in response to positive feedback is the equivalent of being handed a gift and tossing it over your shoulder without even opening it.
A much better way to respond to positive feedback is to simply make eye contact, smile, and say, "Thank-you". By doing this you will acknowledge and enjoy the gift of positive feedback.
How To Handle Constructive Negative Feedback
Believe it or not, this is the most beneficial type of feedback of all. While positive feedback can help you feel better, constructive negative feedback can help you get better.
Many people get defensive when someone gives them constructive negative feedback. They say things like, "What would she know!" or alternatively, they try and justify themselves and prove the other person wrong.
A much better way to respond to constructive negative feedback is to thank the person for taking the time to provide you with feedback and then ask yourself:
How can I use this feedback to improve?
For example if you own a business and a customer complains about something, instead of trying to prove the customer wrong, thank them for the feedback and take the opportunity to improve your business so that the complaint does not impact another customer in the future.
When you use negative feedback in this way, it becomes a powerful tool for improving your business, your work environment and your relationships.
How To Handle Desctructive Negative Feedback
Destructive negative feedback is negative energy that is meant to cause pain rather than help you to improve. The important thing to understand about destructive feedback is that it is often a way for someone to lash out at the world around them.
In many cases it has very little to do with you and everything to do with the way that person is feeling about themselves and their own problems.
The best way to deal with destructive negative feedback is to recognise it for what it is and just let it go without taking it to heart.
Unfortunately many people have their ‘feedback model’ back-to-front. They dismiss positive feedback, fight constructive negative feedback and dwell on destructive negative feedback.
If instead, you can learn to accept and enjoy positive feedback, use constructive negative feedback to constantly improve and avoid destructive negative feedback, you will greatly accelerate your progress to success.
This Week’s Action Steps
1. Learn to recognise and distinguish between the three types of feedback.
2. When you receive positive feedback, accept and enjoy it as a gift. Simply make eye contact, smile and say thank-you.
3. When you receive constructive negative feedback say, "Thanks for the feedback" and use it to improve.
4. When you receive destructive negative feedback, recognise that it is the act of someone lashing out and don’t take it to heart.

Important Values in Life

Life comes with its ups and downs. Yes, we all know that. But there are certain mindsets that affect our life for the better and some that affect it for the worst. These mindsets that affect our life for the better can be called values. Whilst it stands true that all people have different values in life, there are some important values in life, that in my opinion, should be considered by all. Not because these are the values that I follow, but because it could truly make this world a better place. Here is my list of important values to have in life.

Love: The first of the most important values in life is love. It is an important personal value to open your mind to the concept of love. I don't mean this in a fairy tale kind of way. That is not the only kind of love. The way in which you love your family, and friends, you can love everybody. Love is the bringer of compassion. Once, we are led by compassion, we see the best in others, while they see the best in us. We can have more faith in the world. This will help us to refrain from being suspicious, keeping us more at ease.

Understanding: This is the second important value in life. I see a lot of people around me holding grudges and keeping tempers. They know at the back of their mind and in the depths of their heart that the other person had a reason for doing what they did. Yet, they let their anger take over. Understanding is the key to a happy mind and a caring heart. If you are ready to understand and accept people and circumstances for what they are, you can gain control over it. Understand that people are doing their best, and instead of questioning it, try to find out ways to help them out.

Respect: The third of the important values in life is respect. It is very important to have respect for people. This not only allows you to get inspired by their positive aspects, but also allows you to notice their negatives. Nobody is perfect, neither you, nor me. Respect is the only way we can adopt the best of all that is around us, in the process, making us a better person everyday, every moment. A very important fact about respect is that the more you give, the more you earn. It is in fact one of the most important values in society.

Discipline: The fourth of the important values in life is discipline. Sadly, many people confuse discipline for routine and avoid it. Well, routine is the act of doing the same thing over and over again, due to lack of opportunity or imagination. On the other hand (and far better), discipline accepts the absence of routine, on the condition of responsibility. A disciplined person will have a lot of fun, but will make sure that he completes his duties. He will go out and have a blast, but will ensure that he is back at the decided time. A disciplined and responsible person will respect his as well as other's time. As such, he will always be punctual.

Honesty: The fifth important value in life is honesty. You must be wondering why this value in mentioned at the end. Well, that is because it is the base on which the other values stand. It is the most important value to have. Honesty does not only mean telling your parents when you goofed up. Or admitting to your partner that you made a big mistake. Honesty is admitting to yourself that you are not perfect. It means avoiding to make a mistake. An honest person will try his best to not goof up, but if he does, he will not only admit it, but will willingly accept the consequences. All the other values that are mentioned need to be accepted and followed with honesty. That is the only way in which they will affect your life for the better.

Important values in life differ for different people. Nonetheless, no matter which culture you belong to, certain values help make your life a whole lot better. These are the values that I have known and followed throughout my life.

Hrithik Suzanne

Hrithik (Duggu) had previously confessed that he saw Suzanne Khan across a traffic light and fell in love with her. Suzanne’s side of the story is slightly different. It appears that, Hrithik and she knew each other from the time when they were kids, since they lived in the same locality. But LOVE didn’t happen until she came back from the US, armed with an Associate Art Degree course in Interior Designing. Los Angeles and the US of A had done shy, reticent Suzanne, a great deal of good. America taught her to be herself and not be scared of doing something she believed in. She admits, “From an introvert, I was transformed into an independent girl!”And that’s the one quality Hrithik instantly liked and admired. He was still a raw actor, taking acting lessons and he hadn’t started working. So the fact that young Suzanne was making something of herself impressed him.Once Suzanne returned to India, she began to bump into Hrithik more and more often. But though there was a mutual admiration society happening, neither Hrithik nor Suzanne voiced their feelings, since both fight shy of declaring their emotions, generally. But the two became best friends and started to talk to and meet each other every day. And then, WHAM! It happened. Suddenly, the two realized that they were in love. Suzanne maintains that neither of them verbally made a commitment but they knew that what they had was RIGHT!People who know Suzanne and Hrithik say that she calls him her Bholunath, because she thinks he is too naive and sweet for this world. Ask her if Hrithik has changed in any way after success hit him headlong and she says, “He is still my sweet little boy I fell in love with. He hasn’t changed a bit.”What Suzanne apparently regrets, is the fact that Hrithik and she have lost all privacy and don’t get too much time together. But she has willingly accepted the situation as being part and parcel of the game.
Very few people know that Suzanne was heavily involved in the making of Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai. For three months her own business took a backseat, as she tried to concentrate on the pre-release work. Suzanne even took on the onus of outfitting Hrithik in Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai.Apparently, the only fear that was plaguing Suzanne before Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai released, was that the film had to do well. She had seen Hrithik working his bones off for his debut and she was worried about the fate of the film. Being a spiritual person, Suzanne even went to Shirdi with Hrithik to pray for the film.Suzanne is an integral part of the Roshan family, say family friends of the Khans and the Roshans. There is no family event where Suzanne is not present. Hrithik’s mother, Pinky Roshan and Suzanne, share a very close bond. In fact, when the Roshan family went on a long overdue holiday after the release of their film, it was Suzanne who accompanied them. Hrithik`s success didn`t changed him or his love towards Suzanne though.

Heer Ranjha

Heer was an extremely beautiful woman born in a wealthy family "Sayyal". Ranjha (Teedo) was the youngest of four brothers, after a confrontation with his brothers, Ranjha left home and travels around and comes to Heers village, where he found his love, Heer, who offered him a job to take care of there cattle. Having met Ranjha, Heer became mesmerised by the way Ranjha played the flute (Wanjli) and eventually fell in love with him. They would meet each other secrectly for many years until they were caught by her jealous uncle "Kaido" and parents (Chuchak & Malki). Heer was forced to married to another man "Saida Khera", with the full permission of "Mullah" (priest), who was well-payed by Kaido.

Ranjha was left broken hearted and left to walk the quiet villages on his own until eventually met a Jogi (devoted beleiver in God). Having entering Gorak's Tilla (Shrine) Ranjha could only see his departed lover and being emotionally scared he voluntarally became a Jogi. Reciting the name of the Lord "Allakh Naranjjan" on his travels around the Punjab he found the village, where he was reunited with Heer. They escaped (also with Saida Kheras sister "Sehti", who was in love with "Murad Baluch" - an another famous love story of Punjabi Culture) but was caught by Maharajahs police. Maharajah punished him to jail but same night whole city was in flames. Maharajah freed Ranjha and permitted him to marry with Heer.

They came back to Heer's Village, where Heers parents agreed to their marriage. On the wedding day, Heer's jealous uncle, "Kaido" poisoned her so the wedding wouldn't take place. Having heard the news Ranjha rushed to aid Heer but was too late as she died. Ranjha becoming broken hearted once again and died on her grave.

Romeo Juliet

The play of William Shakespeare begins with a large fight between the Capulets and the Montagues, two prestigious families in Verona, Italy. These families have been fighting for quite some time, and the Prince declares that their next public brawl will be punished by death. When the fight is over, Romeo’s cousin Benvolio tries to cheer him of his melancholy. Romeo reveals that he is in love with a woman named Rosaline, but she has chosen to live a life of chastity. Romeo and Benvolio are accidentally invited to their enemy’s party; Benvolio convinces Romeo to go.
At the party, Romeo locks eyes with a young woman named Juliet. They instantly fall in love, but they do not realize that their families are mortal enemies. When they realize each other’s identities, they are devastated, but they cannot help the way that they feel. Romeo sneaks into Juliet’s yard after the party and proclaims his love for her. She returns his sentiments and the two decide to marry. The next day, Romeo and Juliet are married by Friar Lawrence; an event witnessed by Juliet’s Nurse and Romeo’s loyal servant, Balthasar. They plan to meet in Juliet’s chambers that night.
Romeo visits his best friend Mercutio and his cousin Benvolio but his good mood is curtailed. Juliet’s cousin, Tybalt, starts a verbal quarrel with Romeo, which soon turns into a duel with Mercutio. Romeo tries to stop the fight but it is too late: Tybalt kills Mercutio. Romeo, enraged, retaliates by killing Tybalt. Once Romeo realizes the consequences of his actions, he hides at Friar Lawrence’s cell.
Friar Lawrence informs Romeo that he has been banished from Verona and will be killed if he stays. The Friar suggests Romeo spend the night with Juliet, then leave for Mantua in the morning. He tells Romeo that he will attempt to settle the Capulet and Montague dispute so Romeo can later return to a united family. Romeo takes his advice, spending one night with Juliet before fleeing Verona.
Juliet’s mother, completely unaware of her daughter's secret marriage to Romeo, informs Juliet that she will marry a man named Paris in a few days. Juliet, outraged, refuses to comply. Her parents tell her that she must marry Paris and the Nurse agrees with them. Juliet asks Friar Lawrence for advice, insisting she would rather die than marry Paris. Fr. Lawrence gives Juliet a potion which will make her appear dead and tells her to take it the night before the wedding. He promises to send word to Romeo - intending the two lovers be reunited in the Capulet vault.
Juliet drinks the potion and everybody assumes that she is dead — including Balthasar, who immediately tells Romeo. Friar Lawrence’s letter fails to reach Romeo, so he assumes that his wife is dead. He rushes to Juliet’s tomb and, in deep grief, drinks a vial of poison. Moments later, Juliet wakes to find Romeo dead and kills herself due to grief. Once the families discover what happened, they finally end their bitter feud. Thus the youngsters' deaths bring the families together. Romeo And Juliet is a true tragedy in the literary sense because the families gather sufficient self-knowledge to correct their behaviour but not until it is too late to save the situation.

Gift of Love - Optimistic Spirit

The passengers on the bus watched sympathetically as the attractive young woman with the white cane made her way carefully up the steps. She paid the driver and, using her hands to feel the location of the seats, walked down the aisle and found the seat he'd told her was empty. Then she's settled in, placed her briefcase on her lap and rested her cane against her leg.

It had been a year since Susan, thirty-four, became blind. Due to a medical misdiagnosis she had been rendered sightless, and she was suddenly thrown into a world of darkness, anger, frustration and self-pity.

Once a fiercely independent woman, Susan now felt condemned by this terrible twist of fate to become a powerless, helpless burden on everyone around her. "How could this have happened to me?" she would plead, her heart knotted with anger. But no matter how much she cried or ranted or prayed, she knew the painful truth - her sight was never going to return.

A cloud of depression hung over Susan's once optimistic spirit. Just getting through each day was an exercise in frustration and exhaustion. And all she had to cling to was her husband Mark.

Mark was an Air Force officer and he loved Susan with all of his heart. When she first lost her sight, he watched her sink into despair and was determined to help his wife gain the strength and confidence she needed to become independent again. Mark's military background had trained him well to deal with sensitive situations, and yet he knew this was the most difficult battle he would ever face.

Finally, Susan felt ready to return to her job, but how would she get there? She used to take the bus, but was now too frightened to get around the city by herself. Mark volunteered to drive her to work each day, even though they worked at opposite ends of the city. At first, this comforted Susan and fulfilled Mark's need to protect his sightless wife who was so insecure about performing the slightest task.

Soon, however Mark realized that this arrangement wasn't working - it was hectic, and costly. Susan is going to have to start taking the bus again, he admitted to himself. But just the thought of mentioning it to her made him cringe. She was still so fragile, so angry. How would she react?

Just as Mark predicted, Susan was horrified at the idea of taking the bus again. "I'm blind!" she responded bitterly. "How am I supposed to know where I'm going? I feel like you're abandoning me." Mark's heart broke to hear these words, but he knew what had to be done. He promised Susan that each morning and evening he would ride the bus with her, for as long as it took, until she got the hang of it.

And that is exactly what happened. For two solid weeks, Mark, military uniform and all, accompanied Susan to and from work each day. He taught her how to rely on her other senses, specifically her hearing, to determine where she was and how to adapt to her new environment. He helped her befriend the bus drivers who could watch out for her, and save her a seat.

He made her laugh, even on those not-so-good days when she would trip exiting the bus, or drop her briefcase. Each morning they made the journey together, and Mark would take a cab back to his office.

Although this routine was even more costly and exhausting than the previous one, Mark knew it was only a matter of time before Susan would be able to ride the bus on her own. He believed in her, in the Susan he used to know before she'd lost her sight, who wasn't afraid of any challenge and who would never, ever quit.

Finally, Susan decided that she was ready to try the trip on her own.

Monday morning arrived, and before she left she threw her arms around Mark, her temporary bus riding companion, her husband, and her best friend. Her eyes filled with tears of gratitude for his loyalty, his patience, his love. She said good-bye, and for the first time, they went their separate ways.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday ... Each day on her own went perfectly, and Susan had never felt better. She was doing it! She was going to work all by herself!

On Friday morning, Susan took the bus to work as usual. As she was paying for her fare to exit the bus, the driver said, "Boy, I sure envy you."

Susan wasn't sure if the driver was speaking to her or not. After all, who on earth would ever envy a blind woman who had struggled just to find the courage to live for the past year?

Curious, she asked the driver, "Why do you say that you envy me?" The driver responded, "It must feel so good to be taken care of and protected like you are."

Susan had no idea what the driver was talking about, and asked again, "What do you mean?"

The driver answered, "You know, every morning for the past week, a fine looking gentleman in a military uniform has been standing across the corner watching you when you get off the bus. He makes sure you cross the street safely and he watches you until you enter your office building. Then he blows you a kiss, gives you a little salute and walks away. You are one lucky lady."

Tears of happiness poured down Susan's cheeks. For although she couldn't physically see him, she had always felt Mark's presence. She was lucky, so lucky, for he had given her a gift more powerful than sight, a gift she didn't need to see to believe - the gift of
love that can bring light where there had been darkness.

Why Women Cry?

A little boy asked his mother, "Why are you crying?" "Because I'm a woman," she told him.

"I don't understand," he said. His Mom just hugged him and said, "And you never will."

Later the little boy asked his father, "Why does mother seem to cry for no reason?"

"All women cry for no reason," was all his dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.

Finally he put in a call to God. When God got on the phone, he asked, "God, why do women cry so easily?"

God said, "When I made the woman she had to be special.

I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world,

yet gentle enough to give comfort.

I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth and the rejection that many times comes from her children.

I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining.

I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly.

I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart.

I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.

And finally, I gave her a tear to shed. This is hers exclusively to use whenever it is needed."

"You see my son," said God, "the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides."

When Your Heart & Mind Disagree

You are sitting with your cell phone staring at a text message you wrote to your ex hours ago. You debate whether to send it or not. You stare at your phone while your mind tells you to have more respect for yourself. You logically understand that sending the message is not going to make the situation any better – nor will it heal your pain. Then your heart enters the scene and overpowers your mind. Your heart says, “Go ahead, send it, you will feel better…temporarily at least.”

The scenario above represents one example of a misalignment between your heart and your mind that is a common occurrence after a break up. Every decision you make is determined by a combination of your logic and emotion. If these different elements that make you who you are happen to conflict, you will understandably feel conflicted and make decisions that reflect this turmoil.

Your mind says, “I deserve more – this relationship is not right.”
Your heart says, “Stay, it will work out.”

Your heart says, “This relationship is everything I need.”
Your mind says, “There are red flags here that I shouldn’t ignore.”

Your mind says, “I am going to be okay. In fact, before long, I’m going to feel like myself.”
Your heart says, “The pain is excruciating, I don’t think I will ever feel at peace again.”

Losing a love is often like losing two people – your love and your best friend. When something newsworthy happens in your life, you may still instinctively think to call or email your ex to share the news. When you realize that you no longer have that privilege, the pain seeps in. The question then becomes – can or should you be friends with your ex after the break up?

Its not just a FEELING, Its a DECISION

Love is not just a feeling. It is a DECISION.

When you had your child, you made a decision to love your child. It doesn't just happen automatically because you are the mother.

It is the same with husband. When two get married - They DECIDED to love each other. Not just then, but until forever inspite of all the flaws and weakness. Because, They made that decision.

So The only way to un-love anyone - is to DECIDE it. FEELINGS COME NATURALLY BUT OUR DECISION ONLY CAN MAKE IT TRUE LOVE is an EMOTION KING. CAN`T deny its EXISTENCE. GET IT>> CATCH IT >> GRAB IT Make a decision to stay happy & lucky by having love in your life forever & ever & ever.

Secret behind happy married life

Once X asked Y, "What is the secret behind your happy married life?

Y said, "You should share responsibilities with due love and respect to each other. Then absolutely there will be no problems."

X asked, "Can you explain?"

Y said, "In my house, I take decisions on bigger issues where as my wife decides on smaller issues. We do not interfere in each other's decisions."

Still not convinced, X asked Y "Give me some examples"

Y said, "smaller issues like which car we should buy, how much amount to save, when to visit home town, which Sofa, air conditioner, refrigerator to buy, monthly expenses, whether to keep a maid or not etc are decided by my wife. I just agree to it"

X asked, "Then what is your role?"

Y said," My decisions are only for very big issues. Like whether America should attack Iran, what should happen in the upcoming Budget, Political issues, whether Sachin Tendulkar should retire etc etc."

Do you know one thing, my wife NEVER objects to any of these.

21 Day Rule

Most people who have quit smoking know that those first 21 days are possibly the hardest, BUT if they can just keep focused on their goal of better health and living a smoke-free life, they’ll have broken one of the most difficult additions we know of.

It’s how your brain works and, yes, it’s a rule. In fact it’s such a powerful rule, that I recommend you start using it today. The patterns we repeat consistently (over a 21 day period) become neurological programs that we then run on a daily basis. You are writing programs all the time, you just may be unconscious of this process. Today, I’m giving you the instruction manual to start writing better programs.

Making rules often seems like it will create limitations but you’ll find the opposite is true. What are your rules? We just passed the first 21 day mark of 2011. Are you still focused on your New Year’s Resolutions? If not, revisit them. Do you still value them or do they require some editing or deleting?

Great rewards sometimes require great sacrifice. Here’s a list of some habits to do for 21 days that offer some surprisingly HUGE benefits. Whatever you decide to do for the next 21 days, make sure it feels right for you and if you miss a day, you need to start back at day 1; it’s called the 21 Day RULE for a reason. When you get to day 21, congratulate yourself and move on to the next one.

Drink 8 ounces of water every day for 21 days

Eat breakfast every day for 21 days

Stop snacking within 2 hours of bedtime every day for 21 days

Do spinal warm-up exercises every day for 21 days

Go for a walk, do push-ups, or any exercise you chose every day for 21 days

Eat a salad with dinner every day for 21 days

Repeat a positive statement about yourself every day for 21 days

Do 5-10 minutes of deep breathing exercises every day for 21 days

Visualize your DREAM life for a few minutes every day for 21 days

Meditate for ANY amount of time every day for 21 days

Anything you choose….. every day for 21 days

The funny thing is, 21 days starts to fly past you and you’ll realize that this is easy. Just focus on choosing habits that you really want to commit to.

After all, it’s your life, LOVE it!

38. Story of Parvati Becomes Gouri (Shiv Puran)

There were two asuras named Shumbha and Nishumbha. They meditated a lot and pleased Brahma. Brahma thereupon gave them the boon that they could not be killed by males. Having obtained the boon, the two demons started to oppress the world. They drove the gods out of heaven and the gods went to Brahma so that a solution might be found to the problem.

Brahma went to Shiva. You have to help the Gods, he told Shiva. I have given Shumbha and Nishumbha the boon that they cannot be killed by males. Find a way so that a female is born out of Parvati's body. She will kill Shumbha and Nishumbha.

I will try, replied Shiva.

When Shiva next met Parvati, he addressed her as Kali. This angered Parvati, since kali means black or dark.

Why did you marry me if you thought I was so dark? she asked Shiva. Why do you pretened to love me? Cursed is the woman who is not loved by her husband. I am going to perform tapasya so that I may become fair. I am going to pray to Brahma.

Parvati went off to meditate. She meditated for many years.

There was a tiger which saw Parvati meditating. It was not a good tiger at all, but an evil one. It thought that Parvati would provide a good meal. It sat down in the front of Parvati to appreciate for a while the treat that was in store for it.

Parvati did not realize that the tiger was planning to eat her. She thought that it had sat down in front of her because it wanted to protect her from other wild beasts. She thought that the tiger was one of her devotees and she therefore entered the tiger's soul. As soon as she did this, all thoughts vanished from the tiger's mind. Now it was indeed one of her devotees.

Meanwhile, Brahma arrived to find out who Parvati was meditating. Parvati said that she wanted to become Gouri, that is, someone who was fair. She was sick and tired of being addressed as kali.

Brahma granted the boon.

Parvati shed off all the dark cells (kosha) from her body became Gouri. From the cells emerged a dark-hued goddess named Koushiki. Parvali handed over Koushiki to Brahma. Endowed with weapons by Brahma, Koushiki killed Shumbha and Nishumbha.

Parvati returned to her husband as Gouri.

What happened to the tiger? Shiva turned him into a man and he was employed by Nandi as one of Shiva's guards. He was named Somanandi.

27. Story of Ghushna and Ghushnesha (Shiv Puran)

The twelfth and last of the jyotirlingas is named Ghushnesha.

To the south, there is a mountain named Deva. A brahmana named Sudharma used to live there. His wife was called Sudeha. Husband and wife were righteous and regularly prayed to the gods. They had only one reason for complaint: they had no son. Sudeha was especially disturbed at this. Other women tended to insult her because she had no son.

Sudharma decided to conduct an experiment. He plucked two flowers and offered them in front of a sacred fire. He mentally associated one of the flowers with having a son and asked his wife to choose a flower. Unfortunately, his wife chose the flower that was not associated wtih having a son. From this Sudharma concluded that they were not going to have a son and he did his best to console Sudeha.

But Sudeha refused to be consoled, she was miserable.

Why don't you marry again? asked Sudeha. Perhaps you will then have a son. Marry my niece Gushna.

No, replied Sudharma. You love her now because she is your niece. But if she does indeed have a son, you will become jealous and will come to hate her.

Sudeha convinced her husband that this would never happen. So Sudharma married Ghushna.

Every day, Ghushna made a hundred and one lingas out of clay and worshipped them. When the day's prayers were over, she immersed the lingas in a pond. When one lakh lingas had thus been worshipped, Ghushna gave birth to a handsome boy. Shiva had taken pity on Sudharma and Ghushna.

But when the son was born, Sudeha's nature changed. As her husband had warned her, she felt jealous. She thought that Gushna got more important and she was treated like a maid. In the middle of the night, Sudeha slew the boy with a knife and threw the dead body into the pond. This was the pond where the lingas had been immersed.

As was her wont, Ghushna got up in the morning and began to worship a linga. Blood was discovered on the bed, the boy could not be found and everyone raised the alarm. But Ghushna was not distracted by this racket and did not leave her prayers. Shiva was so impressed with Ghushna's devotion that he restored her son back to life. He also wished to kill the evil Sudeha with his trident, but Gushna begged for her aunt's life and Shiva spared Sudeha. Shushna's act of forgiveness so impressed Shiva that he wished to grant Ghushna another boon, apart from restoring her son.

Ghushna desired that Shiva might alwaysbe present in a linga near the pond. This is known as Ghushnesha.

16. Story of Chandra and Somanatha (Shiv Puran)

Twenty-seven of Daksha's daughters were married to the moon-god Chandra. One of these wives was named Rohini and Chandra loved Rohini more than he loved the other wives. The other wives felt neglected and they complained to their father. Daksha repeatedly warned his son-in-law to devote himself equally to all twenty-seven wives. But Chandra was in no mood to listen.

Daksha thereupon cursed Chandra that he would gradually fade away. Chandra didn't know what to do. He went and sought advice from Brahma and Brahma told him that the only rescourse was to pray to Shiva. Chandra went to Prabhasa tirtha and made a linga on the banks of the river Sarasvati. He prayed to Shiva for six months.

At the end of the tapasya Shiva appeared before Chandra and offered to grant him a boon. Chandra explained what the problem was.

Well, said Shiva, Daksha's curse cannot be entirely ignored. Let us have a compromise. During krishnapaksha you will wane. And during shuklapaksha (the bright part of the lunar fortnight) you will wax. That should satisfy everybody.

Chandra was delighted. The linga to which Chandra prayed is Somantha, the first of the jyotirlingas. Shiva is always present at that tirtha.

6. Parvati Ki Tapasya (Shiv Puran)

But Parvati had fallen in love with Shiva and she didn't know what she could do about it. She thought of Shiva all the time.

One day the sage Narada came and told her, Shiva is only pleased with tapasya. Without tapasya, even Brahma and the other gods do not get to see Shiva. Why don't you perform tapasya?

Parvati decided to do what Narada had asked her to. She asked her parents for permission. Her father agreed with alacrity. Although her mother Menaka was not at all keen that Parvati should perform difficult tapasya, she too eventually agreed.

Parvati gave up her jewellery and handsome clothes. She wore deerskin instead. There is a peak in the Himalayas known as Gouriskikhara. It is there that Parvati went for her tapasy. The meditation was very difficult. During the monsson Parvati meditated while seated on the ground. In the winter she mediated under the water. Wild beats dared not harm her. All the gods and sages assembled to see this wonderful tapasya. The gods and the sages also began to pray to Shiva. Lord, can't you see that Parvati is performing difficult tapasya? They asked. No one has meditated like this before. No one will meditate like this in the future. Please grant her what she wants.

Shiva adopted the form of an old brahmana (the first of the four classes) and appeared at Parvati's hermitage. Parvati welcomed the old man and worshipped him with flowers and fruits.

Why are you meditating? asked the brahmana. What is it that you want?

I wish to have Shiva as a husband, replied Parvati.

You are indeed stupid. Said the brahmana. That is like giving up gold for a piece of glass or giving sandalwood for mud. Does anyone give up the water of the Ganga and drink water from a well instead? Marry one of the gods instead, go and marry Indra. Shiva is a stupid fellow. He has three eyes and five faces. His hair is matted and his body is smeared with ashes. He wears snakes as garlands. He is always accompanied by ghosts, He has no clothes and no wealth. No one knows who his parent are. He live sin the forst and his throat is blue with poison. I think you are making a big mistake. Forget about Shiva and don't waste your life.

The brahmana's words angered Parvati. It is you who are stupid, she said. You don't know a thing about Shiva. He is the lord of everthing. You have insulted Shiva and cursed am I that I made the mistake of worshipping you. You are again going to say something nasty about Shiva. But before you can do that, let me go away. I shall not stay to hear Shiva insulted.

As Parfati was about to depart, Shiva adopted his own form and said, Where are you going? I thought that you were praying for me. You can't forsake me now. I am not going to let you go. Ask for a boon.

Please marry me according to the prescribed rites, replied Parvati.

Shiva agreed and Parvati returned home.

5. The Burning of the God of Love (Shiv Puran)

The gods decided to follow Brahma's advice. But how could it be ensured that Shiva and Parvati fell in love with each other? The king of the gods was Indra and the god of love was Kandarpa or Madana.

Indra summoned Kandarpa. You have to help us, said Indra. There is no other way out. Shiva is performing tapasya in the Himalayas. Parvati is also in the region. Make sure that the two fall in love. That is your job.

Kandarpa went to the place where Shiva was meditating. And as soon as the god of love appeared, the place took on the traits of a spring which was pernnial. Flowers bloomed and bees buzzed among the flowes. Cuckoos sang and fragant breezes started to waft throught the forest. Shiva tried to concentrate on his meditation. But he kept getting distracted.

While all this was going on, who should arrive there but Parvati? She was so beautiful that Shiva was smitten with love for her. Parvati also seemed to like Shiva.

But life is never simple. Shiva was, after all, Shiva. He realized that something was wrong. How could his meditation have been disturbed? How was it that the season seemed to be spring although it had no business to be spring? When Shiva glanced around, his eyes fell on Kandarpa who was hiding. He realized that it was Kandarpa who was responsible for all this mischief.

Shiva was angered. He had a third eye in the middle of his forehead. From this third eye flames sprouted and these flames burnt Kandarpa to ashes.

Kandarpa's wife was Rati. When Rati saw that her husband had been burnt to ashes, her grief knew no bounds. At first she lost consciousness. When she recovered, she lamented, Woe is me. What is going to happen to me? My husband, my love, where have you gone?

The gods and Rati sought out Shiva. They explained that it had been no fault of Kandarpa's. He had been asked to disturb Shiva's tapasya because of the Tarakasua problem. What would happen to Rati now?

Shiva replied, What has happened has happened. Nothing can be done about kandarpa now. He will eventually be born in the city of Dvaraka as Krishna's son Pradyumna. Rati will then be reuntied with Kandarpa. But till such time, let her simply wait.

The gods dispersed, still despondent. The matter of Shiva and Parvati's marriage had not progressed at all.

Ye to sach hai ki bhagwaan hai

Ye to sach hai ki bhagwaan hai
Hai magar fir bhi anjaan hai
Dharti pai roop maa baap ka
Us vidhata ki pehchaan hai

Its true. No matter how rude you behave with your parents.
They are there for you to take care of you forever and ever.

Children can never pay back their parents.
They can never fulfill their expectations.

But atleast a child should try to respect them, obey them, love them
and try to be with them when they need the most.

Love your Parents. Treat them like GOD.

Sochana Kya Jo Bhi Hoga Dekha Jayega

One feel Lonely when people whom they love leaves them.
Its not easy to forget everything and smile.
But one should remember if they become sad and don`t care about themselves
then other people who are still there will get hurt.

Life is full of ups and downs.
One should not leave hope.

Life goes on. If you are alive even after being in worst situations of life, then
believe that no one is bigger than GOD and he wants you to be in his shadow.

Keep Chanting "Shree krishna Sharnam Mamah" like I do whenver i feel low.
and keep the attitude "Sochana Kya Jo Bhi Hoga Dekha Jayega".

& Do the things for others if possible which you expect from the GOD.
