Financial Meltdown :- The Story of the Bubble that Burst

Once there was a little island country. The land of this country was the tiny island itself. The total money in circulation was 2 dollar as there were only two pieces of 1 dollar coins circulating around.

1) There were 3 citizens living on this island country. A owned the land. B and C each owned 1 dollar.

2) B decided to purchase the land from A for 1 dollar. So, A and C now each own 1 dollar while B owned a piece of land that is worth 1 dollar.

3) C thought that since there is only one piece of land in the country and land is non produceable asset, its value must definitely go up. So, he borrowed 1 dollar from A and together with his own 1 dollar, he bought the land from B for 2 dollar.

A has a loan to C of 1 dollar, so his net asset is 1 dollar.

B sold his land and got 2 dollar, so his net asset is 2 dollar.

C owned the piece of land worth 2 dollar but with his 1 dollar debt to A, his net asset is 1 dollar.

The net asset of the country = 4 dollar.

4) A saw that the land he once owned has risen in value. He regretted selling it. Luckily, he has a 1 dollar loan to C. He then borrowed 2 dollar from B and and acquired the land back from C for 3 dollar. The payment is by 2 dollar cash (which he borrowed) and cancellation of the 1 dollar loan to C.

As a result, A now owned a piece of land that is worth 3 dollar. But since he owed B 2 dollar, his net asset is 1 dollar.

B loaned 2 dollar to A. So his net asset is 2 dollar.

C now has the 2 coins. His net asset is also 2 dollar.

The net asset of the country = 5 dollar. A bubble is building up.

(5) B saw that the value of land kept rising. He also wanted to own the land. So he bought the land from A for 4 dollar. The payment is by borrowing 2 dollar from C and cancellation of his 2 dollar loan to A.

As a result, A has got his debt cleared and he got the 2 coins. His net asset is 2 dollar.

B owned a piece of land that is worth 4 dollar but since he has a debt of 2 dollar with C, his net Asset is 2 dollar.

C loaned 2 dollar to B, so his net asset is 2 dollar.

The net asset of the country = 6 dollar. Even though, the country has only one piece of land and 2 Dollar in circulation.

(6) Everybody has made money and everybody felt happy and prosperous.

(7) One day an evil wind blowed. An evil thought came to C’s mind. “Hey, what if the land price stop going up, how could B repay my loan. There is only 2 dollar in circulation, I think after all the land that B owns is worth at most 1 dollar only.” A also thought the same.

(8) Nobody wanted to buy land anymore. In the end, A owns the 2 dollar coins, his net asset is 2 dollar. B owed C 2 dollar and the land he owned which he thought worth 4 dollar is now 1 dollar. His net asset become -1 dollar.

C has a loan of 2 dollar to B. But it is a bad debt. Although his net asset is still 2 dollar, his Heart is palpitating.

The net asset of the country = 3 dollar again.

Who has stolen the 3 dollar from the country ?

Of course, before the bubble burst B thought his land worth 4 dollar. Actually, right before the collapse, the net asset of the country was 6 dollar in paper. his net asset is still 2 dollar, his heart is palpitating.

The net asset of the country = 3 dollar again.

(9) B had no choice but to declare bankruptcy. C as to relinquish his 2 dollar bad debt to B but in return he acquired the land which is worth 1 dollar now.

A owns the 2 coins, his net asset is 2 dollar. B is bankrupt, his net asset is 0 dollar. (B lost everything) C got no choice but end up with a land worth only 1 dollar (C lost one dollar) The net asset of the country = 3 dollar.

There is however a redistribution of wealth.

A is the winner, B is the loser, C is lucky that he is spared.

A few points worth noting -

(1) When a bu bb le is building up, the debt of individual in a country to one another is also building up.

(2) This story of the island is a close system whereby there is no other country and hence no foreign debt. The worth of the asset can only be calculated using the island’s own currency. Hence, there is no net loss.

(3) An overdamped system is assumed when the bubble burst, meaning the land’s value did not go down to below 1 dollar.

(4) When the bubble burst, the fellow with cash is the winner. The fellows having the land or extending loan to others are the loser. The asset could shrink or in worst case, they go bankrupt.

(5) If there is another citizen D either holding a dollar or another piece of land but refrain to take part in the game. At the end of the day, he will neither win nor lose. But he will see the value of his money or land go up and down like a see saw..

(6) When the bubble was in the growing phase, everybody made money..

(7) If you are smart and know that you are living in a growing bubble, it is worthwhile to borrow money (like A ) and take part in the game. But you must know when you should change everything back to cash.

(8) Instead of land, the above applies to stocks as well.

(9) The actual worth of land or stocks depend largely on psychology.

Passive Aggressive

I know a couple people like this (and if you are reading this,
it's not you). It is my hot button. When someone behaves like this,
I just want to choke the life out of them.
Instead of going to jail, I choose not to be around people like this. :-)

Passive Aggressive (adj.) Of, relating to, or having a personality disorder
characterized by habitual passive resistance to demands for adequate
performance in occupational or social situations,
as by procrastination, stubbornness, sullenness, and inefficiency.

Covert (adj.) Not openly shown, engaged in,
or avowed : VEILED
Passive Aggressive Behavior Defined:

Passive Aggressive behavior is a form of covert abuse1.
When someone hits you or yells at you, you know that you've been abused.
It is obvious and easily identified. Covert abuse is subtle and
veiled or disguised by actions that appear to be normal,
at times loving and caring.
The passive aggressive person is a master at covert abuse.

Passive aggressive behavior stems from an inability to express anger
in a healthy way. A person's feelings may be so repressed that they
don't even realize they are angry or feeling resentment.
A passive aggressive can drive people around him/her crazy
and seem sincerely dismayed when confronted with their behavior.
Due to their own lack of insight into their feelings the
passive aggressive often feels that others misunderstand them or,
are holding them to unreasonable standards if they are confronted
about their behavior.

Common Passive Aggressive Behaviors:

* Ambiguity: I think of the proverb, "Actions speak louder than words"
when it comes to the passive aggressive and how ambiguous they can be.
They rarely mean what they say or say what they mean.
The best judge of how a passive aggressive feels about an issue is how they act.
Normally they don't act until after they've caused some kind of stress by
their ambiguous way of communicating.

* Forgetfulness: The passive aggressive avoids responsibility by "forgetting."
How convenient is that? There is no easier way to punish someone than forgetting
that lunch date or your birthday or, better yet, an anniversary.

* Blaming: They are never responsible for their actions.
If you aren't to blame then it is something that happened at work,
the traffic on the way home or the slow clerk at the convenience store.
The passive aggressive has no faults, it is everyone around him/her who has
faults and they must be punished for those faults.

* Lack of Anger: He/she may never express anger. There are some who are
happy with whatever you want. On the outside anyway! The passive aggressive
may have been taught, as a child, that anger is unacceptable.
Hence they go through life stuffing their anger, being accommodating and
then sticking it to you in an under-handed way.

* Fear of Dependency: From Scott Wetlzer, author of Living With The
Passive Aggressive Man. "Unsure of his autonomy and afraid of being alone,
he fights his dependency needs, usually by trying to control you.
He wants you to think he doesn't depend on you,
but he binds himself closer than he cares to admit.
Relationships can become battle grounds, where he can only claim victory
if he denies his need for your support."

* Fear of Intimacy: The passive aggressive often can't trust.
Because of this, they guard themselves against becoming intimately attached
to someone. A passive aggressive will have sex with you but they rarely make
love to you. If they feel themselves becoming attached, they may punish you
by withholding sex.

* Obstructionism: Do you want something from your passive aggressive spouse?
If so, get ready to wait for it or maybe even never get it.
It is important to him/her that you don,t get your way.
He/she will act as if giving you what you want is important to them but,
rarely will he/she follow through with giving it.
It is very confusing to have someone appear to want to give to you but
never follow through. You can begin to feel as if you are asking too much
which is exactly what he/she wants to you to feel.

* Victimization: The passive aggressive feels they are treated unfairly.
If you get upset because he or she is constantly late, they take offense because;
in their mind, it was someone else's fault that they were late.
He/she is always the innocent victim of your unreasonable expectations,
an over-bearing boss or that slow clerk at the convenience store.

* Procrastination: The passive aggressive person believes that deadlines are
for everyone but them. They do things on their own time schedule and be damned
anyone who expects differently from them.


The Passive Aggressive and You:

The passive aggressive needs to have a relationship with someone who can be
the object of his or her hostility. They need someone whose expectations and
demands he/she can resist. A passive aggressive is usually attracted to
co-dependents, people with low self-esteem and those who find it easy to make
excuses for other's bad behaviors.

The biggest frustration in being with a passive aggressive is that they
never follow through on agreements and promises. He/she will dodge responsibility
for anything in the relationship while at the same time making it look as
if he/she is pulling his/her own weight and is a very loving partner.
The sad thing is, you can be made to believe that you are loved and adored by
a person who is completely unable to form an emotional connection with anyone.

The passive aggressive ignores problems in the relationship, sees things
through their own skewed sense of reality and if forced to deal with the
problems will completely withdraw from the relationship and you.
They will deny evidence of wrong doing, distort what you know to be real to
fit their own agenda, minimize or lie so that their version of what is real
seems more logical.

The passive aggressive will say one thing, do another, and then deny ever saying the first thing. They don't communicate their needs and wishes in a clear manner, expecting their spouse to read their mind and meet their needs. After all, if their spouse truly loved them he/she would just naturally know what they needed or wanted. The passive aggressive withholds information about how he/she feels, their ego is fragile and can't take the slightest criticism so why let you know what they are thinking or feeling? God forbid they disclose that information and you criticize them.

Confronting the Passive Aggressive:

Beware, if you confront the passive aggressive he/she will most likely sulk, give you the silent treatment or completely walk away leaving you standing there to deal with the problem alone. There are two reasons for confronting the passive aggressive. One, if done correctly you may be able to help him/her gain insight into the negative consequences of their behaviors. Two, even if that doesn't happen, it will at least give you the opportunity to talk to him/her in a frank way about how his/her behavior affects you. If nothing else you can get a few things "off your chest." Below are some ways you might approach your passive aggressive:

* Make your feelings the subject of the conversation and not his/her
bad behaviors.

* Don't attack his/her character.

* Make sure you have privacy.

* Confront him/her about one behavior at a time,
don't bring up everything at once.

* If he/she needs to retreat from the conversation allow them to do
it with dignity.

* Have a time limit, confrontation should not stretch on indefinitely.

* If he/she tries to turn the table on you, do not defend your need
to have an adult conversation about your feelings.

* Be sure he/she understands that you care about what happens to them,
that you love them and that you are not trying to control them.
You are only trying to get to the bottom of your disagreements
and make the relationship better.


Inside the Passive Aggressive:

The passive aggressive has a real desire to connect with you emotionally
but their fear of such a connection causes them to be obstructive and
engage in self-destructive habits.
He/she will be covert in their actions and it will only move him/her further
from his/her desired relationship with you.

The passive aggressive never looks internally and examines their role in a
relationship problem. They have to externalize it and blame others for
having shortcomings. To accept that he/she has flaws would be tantamount to
emotional self-destruction. They live in denial of their self-destructive
behaviors, the consequences of those behaviors and the choices they make
that cause others so much pain.

The passive aggressive objectifies the object of their desire. You are to be
used as a means to an end. Your only value is to feed his/her own emotional needs.

You are not seen as a person with feelings and needs but as an extension of
him/her. They care for you the way they care for a favorite chair.
You are there for their comfort and pleasure and are of use as long as you
fill their needs.

The passive aggressive wants the attention and attachment that comes
with loving someone but fears losing his/her independence and sense of self
to his/her spouse. They want love and attention but avoid it out of fear
of it destroying them. You have to be kept at arms length and if there is
an emotional attachment it is tenuous at best.

The only hope for change in the way they deal with relationship issues
is if they are able to acknowledge their shortcomings and contributions
to the marital problems. Facing childhood wounds, looking internally
instead of externally to find the cause of problems in their life will
help them form deeper emotional attachments with a higher sense of emotional
safety.

Feeling Lost

I have been feeling pretty lost lately.
I do this when I need to turn off my feelings,
but usually they catch up with me pretty quick.

I've been having lots of problems in my life and it's been hard.
I really don't want anythg...
so turning off my feelings is the only way to make it through.
I am really trying not to argue in front of anyone,
and I try really hard not to cry in front of anyone too.
If I do cry, I tell that "It's okay to cry when you're sad
& I'm glad I have you to hug me." and then I smile.

I am more and more convinced though that
I deserve this life only. However, I don't think there is any other life for me.

There is one thing that I will stick to that "Nothing is for forever"
And, for right now, that's enough.
I have to find a way to be content with that.

I don't need to be happy. :-)
I don't think anyone does, to be honest.
Human are confusing, needy creatures.
It's their job to look out only for themselves.

I wish that at the end of the day, I could get a grade from someone on how
I spent that day. A+, B-, big fat F...whatever it would be.
At least then I would know.

I haven't really even been looking at my hair lately.
I just don't...have the energy to deal with it right now.
I really don't. I wish I could stop eating nails and just
let them grow in. They don't look horrible but I MISS my long ones.
Maybe I can make that my goal...no eating nails this week.

I'm just going through a phase right now where
I'm seriously doubting my abilities,
and I'm scared all over again that I won't be at peace.
A normal feeling for some people maybe,
but for me it's downright scary.
I just try to tell myself that God will give me the strength that I need,
that I shouldn't be afraid.
I have to just take this day by day.

I am ready to concentrate on myself again a little bit.
I gave away everything I have, and I will always do this,
but eventually Its time to start finding ME again.

What is hard is knowing that it's time for me to experience
some separation. But at the same time, I break down in tears
remembering my golden days, wishing that I could experience
it just one more time.
All my mistakes replay themselves over and over again
in my mind. It's like they won't let go.

I think I need to start focusing on more positive things.
Everything in my head seems to be negative right now.
I don't think those negative thoughts will get me very far.

But then again, sometimes I just don't know what to think.
I just pray that somehow God knows what He's doing with me.

Are we too selfish?

"Singles are selfish."
"The Selfish Generation!"
"No kids..? You must be selfish."

Today`s majority youth believes, when faced with the choice of helping others at our own expense, individuals would act selfishly to serve their self-interest.

What if everyone thought this way?

I decided to pose the question to those who says that unselfish acts are the key to a good relationship.
And good news for the faint of heart I found out is,

"Listening is the most unselfish act that you can do in any relationship."

It's important for both people to get their needs met. Men need to help around the house more by doing some of the domestics, and women need to give back to men - perhaps by doing some of things the things men like, in the bedroom ..."

One colleague confides to me that his girlfriend's selfish acts are what is eating away at their relationship.

"She goes out some nights with her friends and doesn't bother to call and tell me where she is. You've got to let the other person know you're safe, otherwise they'll worry about you, and it's a very selfish thing to do - to only think of yourself and make someone worried sick over you."

When I point out that his girlfriend often cooks him his favourite dinner (unselfishly), he tells me this: "If someone is always cooking you dinner and you're doing nothing back for them, then absolutely that's pretty selfish too. I do think it's important to be proactive in a relationship... it's just that I yet learnt to cook."

But as once said, "One of the key things for people as far as joy is concerned is not living a selfish, self-centered lifestyle where we live our lives expecting everybody else to do something for us ... "


It takes four seasons to know one long year.
Always have a positive attitude in life. Even a stopped watch is right twice a day.

Tips for Stock Brokers

It is a human nature to make blunder in stock market. Though, there always a chance to learn from your mistakes and get better yourself for the long run. Here are some ways to turn into an enhanced trader.

1. Set Stop Losses and Take Profits - “Set and forget” trading is usually profitable. When you place each trade, keep in mind to place your exit and stop loss, and then let the market be your guide. Have a preset limit of how much you are keen to win and how much you can lose. Technical analysis will tell you the best price for selling and the best place for buying. Support and resistance points are the best places to put limit orders.

2. Stick to Your Weapons - Do not try to run from the market. The only way to bigger in trading profit is to stay in the game and keep trading. Running from the trades and the action will keep you beyond the market, whether it is hot or cold. Glue to your trading plan and ratify trading discipline are the keys to producing profits.

Love yourself.. Love your life.. No matter what..!!

You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.

And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Here are ten ways to make yourself more open to love. And if it doesn’t work, at least you’ll feel better about yourself. And when the next potential lover comes along, you will be ready!


1: Love yourself
Ahh, get your mind out of the gutter - I’m talking about having respect for yourself. While I know I am running the risk of sounding like a grandma, begin by covering yourself up. You may think your crush wants to see your boobs (and I’m sure he does) but that’s not going to bring you love. If you don’t have respect for yourself, you can’t expect anyone else to. Looking truly sexy is a subtle business, and when it works, it really works.

2: Keep it real
Playing hard to get is all very well, but if it’s love you want, you may want to grow up a little. Keeping it real is a much better method to finding a steady and true connection with someone. Leave the games to scrabble sessions and try to engage in some real conversations instead. Don’t worry about the three-day rule, or any rules. Show him you care by calling him if you want to. As you’re all probably aware, In a long distance relationship (LDR). It’s at about this point when I hear a rousing chorus of “WHY?!” from those who are reading. Well, it’s something I’ve been asking myself and something everyone who is apart from their significant other should ask themselves. But let’s backtrack to how it all begun. It can be summed up in one word. Cliché. Need I say more? It just clicked. Anyway things happened quickly, you tend to speed things up when you’re dealing with a lack of time. One minute we were saying that it was just a fling and we should say goodbye, next moment we were checking out the best calling plan because we’d decided we wanted to see what would happen. Basically, we didn’t want it to end. But we knew we’d have to do the distance thing. We didn’t plan anything, we just figured it out as we went along. For those who have been in this situation, you know what I mean when I say it’s hard. It’s really hard. Sometime the phone just doesn’t connect it, some days all you want is a hug from your boy and you can’t have it. They say that communication is the basis of any good relationship, well in a LDR it is a necessity. Without that, you have nothing. You need to be honest and open, and for someone like me who isn’t great at expressing herself it’s been a challenge. If anyone had any trust issues when they started this, they all had to go. Of course you have to feel strongly about the person you’re doing this with but without trust then you shouldn’t bother. You will never know who they’re out with or what they’re doing, even for the most self-assured girl it would be tough. Trust and honesty, both necessary, but two of the hardest things to have. Strangely enough, the hardest thing for me to have to deal with has been the reaction from other people. I’m sure they don’t mean to be anything less than supportive but when you’re constantly being told that it’ll be hard and that it’ll never last, it makes everything a little more difficult. I already know that it’s hard, it’s one that’s involved but it’s not something one have gone into lightly. Everyone has an opinion when it comes to this and everyone thinks their answer is the right one. What I’ve discovered is that we have had to figure out what’s right for us, without listening to everybody else’s doubt. For me, what it comes down to is that I’ve met someone who can deal with my interesting ways. He just happens to live in some other place. All relationships have issues that need to be dealt to and this is ours. We make do with the phone and email, our phone bills are huge but the way I see it is, if he were here we’d be going out a lot so we’re probably saving money. We talk so often that we probably know each other better than a lot of other couples who have been together for the same amount of time. The best thing is that he’s coming back. It was important for me to know that there was more to his decision than just us, I can’t be the only reason for him turning his life upside down. He’s already got a great group of friends here, he’s got family and he’s just got a job so when he does get back, things can be normal. I never thought I’d want a normal, everyday relationship and that’s the beauty of distance. You can find out what you both want, you’ve got time to get to know each other without all the other crap that comes with the beginning part of a relationship. The distance has made me appreciate what we have so when he does come, I know I won’t take it for granted

True Sharing

A crow found a piece of meat. The moment it picked up the meat, the other crows and eagles began chasing it. The crow soared higher and higher to safeguard the meat. The others chased it relentlessly. Then, suddenly, the crow dropped the meat; the crows and eagles left the chase, and dived towards the meat that had fallen to the ground.

Now that the crow was free from its pursuers, it realised a great truth. "I lost the meat, but then, I have gained great freedom!" Similarly, if we drop our ego, our life will get released from tension. Just as the crow could fly at will in the vast sky, we too can soar in the beauty of life!

Vedas have four sections — Moksha Shastra, Artha Shastra, Kama Shastra and Dharma Shastra. The Moksha Shastra says: "Only when we drop our ego, do we realise the bliss that is within us!" The Artha Shastra advocates: "Earn money out of love; not out of greed".

Greed can never satisfy us. The Kama Shastra advocates: "Convert sex into prayer". The Dharma Shastra says: "Let goodness, not ambition, be the foundation of life". Out of goodness, let ambition arise.

Our parents, siblings, spouse and children deserve our love and care. But while we do not share everything with them, we confide freely with a few friends. Over a period of time, a feeling of intimacy develops.

To help intimacy grow in your marital relationship; treat your spouse as your friend. Let there be transparency in your words and deeds. Some declare with pride, "I do not discuss office matters at home!" The reason given by couples is, "If I share office matters with my spouse, it might not be understood. It might lead to confusion and worry". This may be true to some extent.

But it is not so difficult to overcome this simple hurdle, it is to prevent a wall rising between the two of you.

When you share your troubles, dreams or worries... what will a good friend do? He would just listen, letting you unburden yourself. He would create an atmosphere for meaningful sharing. Mother Teresa would say: "Don't spend your time in judging others; then you will not have time to love them!"

It is absolutely essential that such an intimacy exists between husband and wife. It is worth looking at an advice provided in Christianity to nourish the intimacy between husband, wife and children. "The family that prays together stays together!"

In married life, you have to compromise on certain issues which you may not really like or enjoy. One should learn to accommodate the other's likes and dislikes. Intimacy is bound to develop in the environment of such readiness to accommodate.

You receive as much as you give. One is more blessed in giving than in receiving. One should develop an attitude of giving in to the taste and interest of the spouse on less important issues.

You have to learn to like what you dislike too and even dislike what you like; so that you are above likes and dislikes. Then you will have likes and dislikes, instead of likes and dislikes having you! This is true mastery. Be a master of likes and dislikes.

Need Of Applying Vermilion In The Parting Line Of Hair ?

At the time of marriage, vermilion is applied in the parting line of bride's hair for the first time. Since that day, as long as her husband is alive, a married woman has to follow this tradition without fail. Applying of vermilion in the parting line of hair has religious as well as scientific reasons. According to Adbhut Ramayan, application of vermilion brings fortune for the husband and he enjoys a long life. Sita had herself related this fact to Hanumana.

According to astrology, parting line of hair is similar to Naagin (female cobra). If after marriage, it is left as it is, it brings great misfortunes for the bride. Application of vermilion in the parting line of hair does away with this fault and at the same time suppresses the Naagin.

Scientifically, the parting line of hair is the most tender spot of women and application of vermilion provides it with due protection because of the presence of metals like mercury in the vermilion. This metal not only controls the electrical impulses in a woman's body but also curbs her excitement and protects the tender spot from external defects. Apart from it, parasites like lice, dandruff etc. also find a suitable home in a woman's hair. Vermilion also keeps these parasites at bay.

Need Of Rosary With 108 Beads ?

Our ancient sages and hermits have regarded a rosary with 108 beads as highly beneficial. They have also shed ample light on their reasoning behind this belief.

In a year, the Sun has 216000 phases in all. It remains southward and northwards for a period of six months alternatively. Thus, it has two kinds of movements in a year. To find out the number of phases, the Sun can have total number of its phases i.e. 216000 is divided by 2.

216000/2= 108000

Thus in one kind of motion, the Sun has 108000 phases. Removing all the trailing zeroes from this number, we find 108. This number has great religious as well as astrological significance. Hence use of rosary with 108 beads is mandatory.

Entire path of the constellations is spread in all the four directions. There are 27 different constellations that according to astrology mostly influence human life. Our sages multiplied this number of constellations (27) by four and fixed the resultant number (108) as the required number of beads in a rosary. Thus with 108 beads, a rosary depicts the entire path of 27 constellations and all the four directions. Apart from it, each constellation has four segments. Thus, all the 27 constellations have 108 segments in all. This combination is also reflected in 108 beads of a rosary.

According to another hypothesis, a human being breathes 21600 times in an Ahoratra (day and night taken together).

Thus half period of an Ahoratra is passed in activities like sleeping, eating, bathing and all other mundane tasks. Another half of an Ahoratra comprising of 10800 breaths must be reserved for reciting God's name. Scriptures also dictate that not even a single breath ought to go waste in our life. Hence scriptures advice that a person tells a rosary with 108 beads atleast once in a day simultaneously chanting the Lord's name, all the breaths find a purpose. If rosary is told with proper rituals, it yields hundred times more benefits. By proper rituals, it means telling of rosary atleast 100 times a day. Thus it equals (108 x 100) to 10800 i.e. equal to half the number of breaths during an Ahoratra. All it means to say that number of telling of rosary that is necessary to make the number of breaths purposeful can be known only with the help of a rosary having 108 beads. Hence provision for 108 beads in a rosary has been provided by our sages.

There is yet another reason for the provision of 108 beads in a rosary. There are 10800 Muhurts in a year. Three major Vedas also contain 10800 couplets. Average age of a human being has also been assumed to be 100 years. If 10800 Muhurts are divided by the average life span of a human being, we find 108. Telling of rosary atleast once a day depicts that a human being has finished study of Vedas in his entire life.

Why Desire For A Son

In almost every country, people prefer to have a son rather than having a daughter. Almost everywhere, birth of a son is celebrated with great festivity. Even in ancient times, kings and able people perform Putreshti Yagya with a desire for a son. Our ancient scriptures abound with scores of such examples.

There are religious, social as well as economic reasons behind the desire of a son. Right from the moment of birth, a person is burdened with three kinds of debts. These are debts due for the gods, debts due for the sages and debts due for the father. One can easily free himself from his debts, which are due for the gods and for the sages. But to be free from the debts due for the father, one must have a son, preferably a physical son.

A shloka in Sanskrit says - PUM NARKAM TATASTRAAYATE ITI PUTRAH

One, who salves the father from the tortures of hell, is son. The scriptures say that unless and until a real son performs last rites, a person cannot be salved from the tortures of the hell. A son’s duties do not end with the last rites. He has to offer oblations regularly every year in order to appease his dead father and remote ancestors. Socially also, a person who has no son is seen with contempt. Even his wealth is plundered after his death if it had no inheritor. Moreover lineage of such a person ends blindly. Because of all these reasons, everybody longs for a son. It is a son who supports his parents in their retiring life when they become physically weak and frail.

Worship Of Peepal ?

In our religious scriptures and epics, Peepal has been described as Ashwath tree. Botanically it is known as Ficus religiousa. This name shows religious significance that is associated with Peepal. Our scriptures contain profuse mention of Peepal.
br> According to Skand Purana, Lord Vishnu resides in the root of Peepal. In its trunk live Keshav and in the branches Narayan, in its leaves Hari and in its fruits live all the other gods. Thus from the tip of its root to the top of its shoot, Peepal is an idol of Lord Vishnu. Lord Buddha too had attained enlightenment beneath a Peepal tree. Peepal has been an integral part of our society. There would be no village where one cannot find a Peepal tree. The village Panchayats still gather beneath a Peepal tree in many villages. Watering Peepal with water and sugar is a sure remedy to undo the adverse influence of Shani.

There is a practice of tying a thread around Peepal’s trunk after watering it. There is a story behind this custom. At the time of sea’s churning, Goddess Lakshmi had emerged from the sea. Her counterpart Alakshmi also had emerged with her. Alakshmi symbolized penury and hence, there was no taker for her. She begged Lord Vishnu to take her also with Him. But Lakshmi was not ready to share Lord Vishnu with her, so she protested. Hence Lord Vishnu ordered Alakshmi to take an abode on Peepal tree. Since then, Alakshmi lives there. Anytime an unwary devotee forgets to tie a thread around Peepal’s trunk, Alakshmi comes to ride him or her causing great poverty. That is why custom of tying a thread around Peepal’s trunk after watering it came into practice. Shrimad Bhagwat Gita describes Peepal as the king of all the vegetation. Lord has made Peepal His symbol, hence all the scriptures forbid cutting of this tree.

Intercourse : When And Why

Exponents of scriptures have intertwined every human activity with certain norms for the benefit of society and saving a man from fall. The whole universe is a result of union of masculine and feminine forces. Life forms are nothing but innumerable distinct manifestation of nature, the invisible force that pervades the entire universe. Barring some lower primitive life forms, all the higher living beings require union of male and female forces for their continuation. Human being is no exception to this rule.

Since the day humans appeared on earth, continuation of this race involved physical union of man and woman. With time, this union evolved into elaborate rituals and refined institution like marriage. Long ago, our ancestors devised certain norms and taboos in order to ensure sanctity in the relation between man and woman. They had complete control over their sexual drives while they honoured the tradition of their clans regarding selection of mate.

For the benefit of the individual and the society as a whole, it is imperative that a thing should be done at the right and auspicious moment. Only then such a thing could be favourable for the doer. The same thing applies to the physical union of man and woman. Scriptures have very clearly opined in this regard. Accordingly, after the menses, intercourse should be carried out on any auspicious moment on days except the fourth, eighth, fourteenth and moonless and full moon nights.

Time from the appearance of menses, up to the sixteenth day is known as Ritukaal for a woman. During this period, a woman is especially in heat and an intercourse without the use of contraceptives is sure to result into a pregnancy. The first four nights of this period are forbidden period. During this time, dark-coloured blood with peculiar smell flows. Contact with such a woman is harmful for both the partners physically as well as psychologically.

Besides the first four nights, intercourse is prohibited on the eleventh and thirteenth nights also. Remaining ten nights are completely conducive for the intercourse. Even on these ten days, if a festival or full moon and moonless nights fall, intercourse must be postponed. Positions of the Sun and the Moon on these days are such that their combined effects influence profoundly the human psychology and the movement of fluids in the body. An intercourse involves perfect streamlining of bodily fluids and if it is carried out on any of these days, adverse effects on the body cannot be ruled out. Even a child that a woman bears, on full moon and moonless nights may carry these defects like having two heads, a tail, four hands, joint bodies or psychological defects like being cruel, daredevils, murderers etc. Even the birds and animals enjoy intercourse at a prefixed time set by the nature. The male bird and animal scent their female counterparts to judge whether they are really ready to conceive or not. They proceed to intercourse only when the female is in oestrous.

Nights have been fixed as the precise period for enjoying intercourse. Even at night, time from nine to twelve is most conducive that to at least one and half-hours after taking dinner. Intercourse is strictly prohibited at twilight of dawn and dusk. It has a spiritual as well as physical significance. An intercourse carried out at unfavourable time always leads to the birth of a demonic child. Ravan is one such profound example. Despite being a Brahmin by birth, he developed demonic virtues for his parents had an intercourse at twilight.

In the modern era, when girls are faring well in almost every field and are no less than the boys, there are many people who long for a son. In their effort to have a son, such people keep on producing many girl children and blame the destiny for their condition. Practice of patience and recognition of appropriate time is important for such people who want to have a son. Such people must carry out intercourse on the even days after the menses that is they should carry out intercourse on sixth, eighth, tenth, twelfth, fourteenth or sixteenth day after the menses. Intercourse on the odd days that is fifth, seventh, ninth, eleventh, thirteenth and fifteenth days after the menses is favourable for having a girl child. It is said that during an intercourse, excess of seminal fluid leads to a boy child whereas excess of Ruj (female fluid of excitement) leads to the birth of a girl child.

It is said that after the menses are over, a peculiar kind of excitement (cupid wave) overtakes the woman. This wave rises and falls on alternate days. On even days, cupid wave subsides whereas on odd days, it surges. Thus, having intercourse on auspicious moments in auspicious days not only maintains sanctity and good health that also helps one to get a desired offspring.

WHY MARRIAGE IS PROHIBITED WHEN JUPITER ENTERS LEO

The Almighty God after having created all the planets of the solar system also created their abodes i.e. the twelve zodiacs. According to Indian astrology, the sun is considered to be the lord of zodiac sign Leo whereas the Moon is believed to be the lord of Cancer.The remaining five planets are given the lordship of two zodiacs each. Rahu and Ketu being shadow planets are not believed to be independent planets and hence they are not given lordship of any zodiac.

While travelling on its orbit, Jupiter enters the zodiac of Leo after every 13 years. The Jupiter is believed to be the bestower of knowledge and learning and hence one should properly utilize this opportunity in attaining knowledge instead of wasting it on worldly tendencies like marriage etc. One would get enough opportunities to indulge in such activities.

Jupiter is believed to be the preceptor of all the deities including Sun God. It is the duty of a disciple to treat his guru with due respect and reverence whenever he arrives at his home, forgetting about everything else. This is the reason why marriage is prohibited whenever Jupiter enters the zodiac of Leo.

Why Shivlinga Is Worshipped

The word Linga implies mark or symbol. In Sankhya Darshan, an ancient stream of Indian philosophy even Prakriti (nature) and Vikriti (distortion of nature) have been referred to as Linga. Skand Purana says LAYANAALLINGA MUCHCHYATE. That means, Linga is Pralay. During the Pralay, everything is incinerated and annihilated in Linga. Even Vedas and other scriptures too annihilate in the Linga. All of them then reappear from the Linga when the creation begins afresh once again.

According to a tale in Shiva Purana, once, a dispute erupted between Brahma and Vishnu regarding greatness. Both of them claimed their greatness. The dispute grew so high that, it is said in the tale, Brahma and Vishnu got ready to destroy each other. Just then, a gigantic Shiva Linga appeared between them. It was radiating intense flames. A celestial voice advised Brahma and Vishnu to fathom the beginning and end of the Linga in order to prove their greatness. But none of them could fathom the Linga completely and returned in submission. Lord Shiva then appeared in the Linga and said- "Since I have myself appeared from this Linga, this place will be known as Lingasthan in future and this fathomless Linga will assume a miniature appearance so that all the living beings can easily have a complete sight of it and worship it.

One day, Shankar was roaming in Daarukvana completely naked and carrying His own phallus in hands. His appearance and activity had a luring affect on the women folk of the sages who inhabited the forest. But at the same time, it infuriated the sages as well who cursed Shankar that His phallus would fall on the earth. Indeed, the phallus fell upon the earth but began to burn everything because of its intense flames. All the gods prayed Lord Shiva to end this ordeal. At their prayers, Lord Shiva installed the Linga in a vagina. In this form, Shiva Linga is still worshipped all over the world. Shiva Linga installed in vagina in fact symbolizes divine nature and the supreme masculine force.

Once, Shukracharya visited Kailash to see Lord Shiva but he could not see Him because Shiva was then copulating with Shakti. Indignant Shukracharya cursed Shiva that only His union with the feminine genital would be worshipped.

According to a tale in Narad Panchratra, all other deities except Shiva are womanish in virtues. With the power of their penance, Brahma, Vishnu and Daksha produced Kaalika Devi. Devi asked them to seek a boon. They said- "O mother! You please lure Lord Shiva in the incarnation of Daksha’s daughter."

Kaalika said- "How can I do it. He is a small boy and no match for me."

Brahma assured her that Shiva was not a small boy and was in fact a complete man. Kaalika then took birth as Daksha’s daughter, Sati. In due course of time, she got married to Lord Shiva. Whenever and wherever radiance resulted from their copulation, it fell on the earth and assumed the form of Shiva Linga installed in vagina.

According to another tale, the gods and the demons had frequent wars and every time, the demons used to defeat the gods. Every time after their defeat, the gods took refuge at Brahma. Thus, annoyed by their frequent visits, Brahma led the gods to Lord Shiva and asked about the reason for their frequent defeats. Lord Shiva said- "The gods do not worship my Linga whereas the demons worship my Linga with full faith and devotion. This is the main reason for the gods’ frequent defeats."

Thus, following Lord Shiva’s advice, the gods also started worshipping Shivalinga. By the virtue of this worship, their strength increased steadily.

A Shivalinga typically represents Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Brahma is present at the base of Shivalinga, Vishnu in the middle and the upper part is occupied by Lord Shiva Himself.

Is lying ever justified?

Hi Guys ,
Few days back one question came in to my mind that ,Is lying ever justified? or it is not at all justified?People lie in trouble to save themselves from punishment or scolding, kids lie and make excuses when late or not able to do assignment.. We lie when we don’t want to meet or talk to people.. Shop keepers lie so they can sell their stuff, business men lie, politicians lie etc…… So who doesn’t lie?
So can we then say that it is not possible to live a lie free life.I guess every one of us faced a situation that forced us to lie……or these are “justifications” that we present to our selves,which have caused us all to be so indulged in lying…..

What your view guys? Please this time i want answer from every one..and don't make it Flop show!

What is my purpose of living???

re you asking this question? or...

"Who am I?" or... "Why was I born?" or... "The world is a mess--what can I do about it?" or... "What's the point?" Or variations of these?

Maybe instead, after a lot of hard work, or hard wishing, you have attained your heart's desire (love, wealth, security, recognition or anything else) and found the satisfaction was not what you'd expected? That an emptiness still exists within? Or maybe you are obsessed with the fear of losing it?

Or... did you join a good cause, thinking that's your purpose, only to find out maybe it isn't your purpose after all, but someone else's? Maybe your heart aches because of war--in the Middle East, Africa, elsewhere... conflict, conflict, in your city, at your job, in your family... Maybe you want to do ________ "BUT" ________ (conflict within), and you're at your wits' end.

If anything above describes the way you're feeling, then you can understand what I m going through and if anyone has eer found its answer then do share your views..

Confused . . ? ?

I dont know what is my present state of mind.. What I want & What I dont? ?
I cant be able to concentrate on anything not in my job.. in my studies.. in my relationship.. in my family.. & in my friends.
I cant stand this even. Its killing me now. Sometimes I feel so restless & start crying loudly lyk hell.
I feel so left out and all alone standing in some isolated space wondering the life`s decision which we have to accept no matter what.
I know I sound so depressing & i should just give all my worries to my God "Lord Krishna" and start meditating to avoid this negative feeling but I just simply dont know how to do it..??
Lots of thgs goes unquestioned

& I have no control over anything.

Why this life sucks to the most when needed the most?

What could Hetal Mehta do

My sis was scolding me, as I had not gone to the station to receive her when she came to Delhi, despite her telling me a hundred times that it was the first time she was coming to Delhi from Mumbai and without a person receiving her at the station, it would be difficult for her. "Moreover," She told, "Hetal, I called you on your mobile, but you just did not pick up. It was ringing endlessly and in the end I had to disconnect it."

I, after saying sorry for not being able to come to receive her, explained why I could not came.

I was about to start preparing to go to the station, and was cleaning up some stuff, when I noticed that the dustbin had no space left. With the idea of cleaning it, I took it and came outside the main door. I was in a nighty only at that time, which was very normal as I was sitting in the home only and had come just outside the main door to clean the dustbin.
In order to clean the dustbin, What was not normal, occurred thereafter.

I might have been merely two feet outside the main door, when the wind blew, and, to mine worst nightmares, closed the door with it. The door had automatic lock, which meant it would lock itself if it is closed and to open it again, one needs the key. How dangerous these doors can prove out to be, poor me, with just a nighty on my body, with no chappals, with a sis coming from Bombay for the first time whom I have to receive, with a sis who would try to call me on my mobile if I does not meet her at the station, and with a mobile phone that was closed inside the flat with rest of the stuff, had just realized :).

I had to borrow chappals from 'pados vali bhabhi ji' then make a call to my mom asking her to come with the other key, only to inform my sis that because of this uncertain tragedy, I would be late 2day .... :) ...

now temme .... what could I do ... :) :)

Situation @ Work

After two years of corporate world including,
‘Another one , and you are fired’ as well as ‘Great work , so unlike you !’ emails ,

All I can do is offer a big advice to those who are yet to order their business suits – Love your work .At least try to love it . But remember you are just an employee filling a job profile for them .

The day you don’t punch out the right result , they are going to help you pack your stuff and take it home in a cardboard box . So know what is important.

hAPPY nEW yEAR

New look of my blog in this new year!

Now, I m more active in this new "facebook" thing then "orkut".
Actually in this new year so many new thgs will be going to happen wid me as u all must b aware that "8" is the only number which ends up when we write.

So Headds up ! but slowly not in hurry coz so many people are in so much hurry !

I remember that guy in a silver Swift behind my cab who is honking is in a hurry to get to his office
( Yaar overtake karte hue gaali kyun deta hai ? Accha hindi ki gaali to mat de ) .

Students are in a hurry to read their chapters before they face the exams .
My boss is in a hurry to get that report .That waiter at McDonalds is in a hurry to serve table number 4.
People sitting at table number 4 are in a hurry to eat what comes to the table.
People at the boarding gate are in a hurry to get onto the plane .
When it lands , they are in a hurry to get out of it. Everybody is in a hurry to get somewhere .
Very Few people want to stay in the moment they are in.
Now I don't know . Maybe these guys know where they want to get to.
They see where they need to get to and they want to get there fast .
You see , driven , focussed people. Achievers .
Desh ko aage badane wale log. (People you see shaking hands with white people on NDTV Profit .)
Maybe I am just a slow guy who likes to listen to music and type down words which interest nobody while the world around me reaches for the stars .
You see , I don't have a problem with the 'wanting to achieve things' thing .
Even I want to achieve things , even if they are a vegetable burger with cheese , and a TV remote , and someone who shares all that with me .
But what I don't understand is that why hurry ? Jaldi kya hai . Kidhar jaana hai ?
I mean , life is not in the future . Life is now . This moment .I mean , it's like..
When I was in school , people told me happiness is after clearing board exams. We know that , kid .
When I cleared , they told me happiness was getting into a engineering college. ( Note kiya , kitni intelligent hoon main ?)
When I got that , they told me that happiness is definitely getting into MBA. Pakka . Sachi . Muchi. Confirmed. ( Note kiya , kitni intelligent hoon main ?)
When I did that , happiness was defined completing it and earning a handsome salary. Arre 100% happiness yehi hai .
USA mein researchers bhee yehi kehte hai.... lolz!
Now When I have done that , happiness is ? Hello ! What is it nowwww ? Bol do kaka . Kidhar jaana hai ab ?
So ladiesh and gentlemans ,
now that the world has been telling me what to do , this is what I have learnt - all the above stuff is important ,
but happiness is something they dont need to tell you about . It is something you feel . And only you decide what makes you happy .
When others don't know where you want to be , how can they tell you how to get there ?
Like , for me , happiness is..
On a lazy Sunday , I watch a Shahrukh flick on TV , eat a full lunch , and watch another Shahrukh movie.
When ma asks me to take a bath and I put my arm around her shoulders and say "Chill , ma.Do dinn hee to hue hai."
When I say stupid things to someone who would not think "Huh? Isko problem kya hai?."
Sitting in my balcony on a December morning and eat an orange and squeeze the orange peel in the left eye of my brother. Right eye mein bhee .
Talking to someone who understands me , and accepts me even when I am all boring .
Playing cards with Dada , and beating him at it too . ( We dont do that anymore , he is tired of
losing)
Caring for someone I want to care for.
Meeting a bunch of friends over a couple of huge pizzas and crack pathetic jokes about our college professors and why worst girls get the best guys.
Happiness is just , being me .
So you see , what makes me happy is stuff I have not achieved , but stuff , which , I already have , had all the way along .

So I know I need to achieve things , but hey , there is no hurry .Because I need to achieve things to survive , but to be happy , not much is needed .
Some music and a vegetable burger , with cheese , will do just fine for now.
