Indian Credit Cards Review 2011

The Indian credit card market is red hot at the moment. With the market predicted to grow at 25% until 2012, and just 25 million adults having credit cards (out of a billion population) every single bank on the planet wants a piece of the pie. The consumers in India enjoy a huge number of choices of cards. Sides, the banks and the consumers see a lot of problem between each other. India does not yet have a unique nationalized id like social security number in US, or Tax File Number in Australia for all of their citizens. The problem for the banks with this is that there is a huge risk to give out these credit cards that can never be traced if the holder changes his or her address. The consumer on the other hand complains about exorbitant hidden fees, fines and non-existent customer service. There are still not a lot of regulations for the credit card industry. Any one on the road is given a credit card (even by non-bank employees who work as sale sub-vendors to banks) with out any proper checks or verification (a la US sub-prime mortgages). Well but India is one market that any bank cannot ignore, so as time goes by proper regulations will be put in place to get things in order. The idea of this article is to give a list of credit cards out there for the consumers in India and their features.
The growth potential for Indian credit card industry.
The article reviews card of the top banks operating in India like Citibank, HSBC, Barclays, ICICI, HDFC and a few others.

Availability of Information and ease of use of the bank websites

The information in this article is directly from the banks websites (as of 14th May 2009).

Here are some comments about the website itself.

HSBC
The HSBC site was very easy to use and had the information like interest rates and fees easily accessible. They were just a 3-4 clicks away. The entire website was laid out in simple direct format with nice little examples. They had a 7 page “Terms and Conditions” page hidden behind a small font link. There were some unpredictable links to some important pages that worked on and off.
Make sure you read the terms and conditions
Citibank
The Citibank website was a little sluggish and little more complicated. Getting the interest rate information required 5 or more clicks. The website’s credit card looked more like a marketing flyer rather than information brochure. The website was trying to make you special while all you needed was the interest rate on a card. Links to some important pages when clicked took for ever to show up. All the rates and fees for every single card were listed on the same page.
Looked more like marketing flyer than information site.
More than 5 clicks to get to the rates and fees.
ICICI
This site was easy to use and had the information like interest rates and fees easily accessible. They were just a 3-4 clicks away and were organized on the same page for all Credit cards offered. The site offers you a usage guide, even though the idea was right the execution was all wrong. Take a look at this, the title says “How to read the Monthly Credit Card Statement” but has nothing other than a screen shot of mock statement and a few 2 liners. They have explained the obvious and not described complex items. There are so many numbers on the screen and it’s hard to tell what is what.
No proper details on the User Guide
HDFC
This site was having quiet a bit of information on its site. The key information like interest rates and fees were accessible in 3-4 clicks. The website had detailed, separate fees and rates section for each card. They had a FAQ and Credit Card Usage Guide section. FAQ had 6 question and answers but the Usage Guide did have a lot of information on there. It explained by text alone (no screen shots) the terms in the statement.
Barclays
Have to give it to them they had the shiniest site among all, but couldn’t find the rates and fee even after fiddling around the site for sometime. The information on the website looked more like marketing flyer rather than plain simple information. The terms and conditions were listed in a malformed PDF file that had to be downloaded. The rates and fees information could not be found any where on the site.
Terms and conditions as PDF file, that was so awkwardly sized, with tiny fonts.
Kotak
This one website there is nothing to complain about. The website is created beautifully and all the required information is carefully organized. Information related to rates, fees, benefits, FAQ and examples illustrating scenarios are built around the credit card. Finally found a website that satisfies all the criteria.
Kotak has a well designed, organized, website. Simplicity seems to be the objective of the site.
Explains in simple terms how you save.
Enough on the websites, now for the credit cards themselves.
Basic Credit Card Guidelines
  1. Having too much plastic is not good for your financial health. As much as you can try to avoid having too many credit cards.
  2. Carefully monitor all the credit cards you have through online banking (Paper statements are a pain).
  3. Register for SMS or email alerts if your bank offers them.
  4. Try to avoid taking cash advance they charge you very high interest for cash advances. If need some money, try to apply for a personal loan that are offered at a much lower rate.
  5. Always pay off the minimum balance for every statement cycle.
  6. Try to pay off more, even if it a very small amount you would save a lot of money in the end.
  7. Try to get add-on cards for family members rather than having separate cards, so it is easier to monitor your credit cards.
Info: Recommended credit card below are for low credit spending individuals, who do not tend to spend too much using credit cards and follow the above guidelines.
The conditions for recommending these credit cards are a combination of the rules below,
  1. Low Interest Rates - Your card might have any amount of sugar coated features but this is what counts the most.
  2. Low Fees or No Fees - Some banks might give you a low interest rate but for a high annual fee, so watch out.
  3. Benefits - Anything else does not matter than the above two (1&2), but if you get added benefits why not? But you should never pay higher fees or interest rate for the benefits. The benefits might be cash back, fuel surcharge, air miles, shopping discount,...

Marketing Models in Internet Marketing

The concept of Internet marketing began in the nineties. As technology developed, more consumers began using the Internet for entertainment and research. Businesses adapted to this trend and began advertising their products and services online. Internet advertising boomed with the growth of major search engines including Google, Yahoo, and MSN. People of all demographic groups use the Internet, and companies can easily access a variety of vertical markets.
Internet marketing is growing in leaps and bounds, and advertising strategies are developing. Strategies include search engine marketing (SEM), affiliate marketing, email marketing, display advertisement, social media optimization, online public relations, mobile analysis, viral marketing, web analytics, and interactive advertising.

Search Engine Marketing

This tool optimizes your online marketing by helping you promote your products and services. When people use search engines, they type particular keywords. Companies work with these keywords to make sure that their products are prominent in a user's search result. They market themselves by identifying key words. Search engine marketing can use paid search methods, local search methods, and product search methods.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is a web-based technique that utilizes a network of companies or websites. Businesses and websites will market other businesses and websites. This marketing practice rewards affiliates. Affiliate programs compensate relationships in three ways: Cost per Sale (CPS), Cost per Click (CPC), and Cost per Action (CPA).

Display Advertising

Banner ads are display advertisements that are targeted towards a page viewer. Banners are strategically placed where people will see them. You can design and display advertisements yourself, or you can hire a professional. Banners can help your company achieve instant results.

Email Marketing

Email marketing is simple and effective. Businesses can use email marketing to maintain contact with existing clients and to seek out new customers. Emails can be generated quickly to a wide variety of demographics. Companies can send targeted emails based on shopping history, geographic location, and personal information. Sometimes, people prefer to receive emails over other forms of communication. In any case, email marketing comes with drawbacks. Excessive and unnecessary emails are referred to as spam and can be problematic to users and businesses. Because of spam, some email inboxes are set to automatically sort and delete emails from online marketing campaigns. People do not always read email advertisements and will delete them instantly.

Social Media Optimization

Social media optimization (SMO) is a term that refers to a combination of different techniques that are used to promote a business or company. This type of marketing focuses on social networking tools like Facebook, MySpace, or Twitter. Social network sites provide access to a wide variety of people with different backgrounds and interests. People from all over the world join these sites to maintain contact with their friends. SMO matches advertisements with social media users. For example, you can pay to target college students, parents, men, or women.

Interactive Advertising

Interactive advertising describes both online and offline tools that businesses use to recruit potential clients. Offline methods include direct sales calls, interactive television, interactive kiosks, and mobile devices. Email marketing, keyword optimization, blogging, and social networking are some of the online techniques that are used for interactive advertising. You can also choose to use other online methods like video advertising and animations.

Online Public Relations

Public relations help businesses gain exposure and credibility. Businesses employ strategies to connect with the public and ensure that people know what is going on. Companies can present their activities strategically to promote themselves. Online techniques include press releases, article marketing, email marketing, blogs, and syndication.

Viral Marketing

With viral marketing, companies use word-of-mouth and popular social networks to spread awareness of a product. These can be photos, videos, songs, or text messages that capture a viewer's interest or attention. In general, viral marketing techniques will capitalize upon something catchy. These could be parodies of songs, movies, or celebrities. Viral marketing can help a company increase its product or service sales.

Mobile Advertising

Mobile advertising makes use of text messaging. The advantage of this method is that people are likely to read their text messages. A growing number of people have internet-enabled phones and can click directly to a company's website. Mobile advertising is becoming increasingly cost effective.

Ad Serving

Ad serving allows you to be more strategic in how you display your advertisements. This technology allows you to determine what ads make the most money, and you can monitor how all of your advertisements perform. You can use ad serving technology to come up with an effective advertising plans and to increase your efficiency. You can save money by being precise.

Web Analytics

Web analytics include statistical and demographic reports for websites. You can collect data about the number of people visiting your site as well as their personal information. Through web analytics, you can customize your website to expand your markets and to meet the needs of your client base.

Investor should begin investing irrespective of what happens in the near-term. There is huge value across the board, be it largecaps and midcaps in the market. However, investor should not take too much of leverage positions. It is a very difficult market for the traders.

When investors turn into traders, they get disappointed with the markets. The key is to buy into the right kind of stocks and just hold on. Over the next one year, the returns would be very strong.

Speak Asia Online (SAOL) - A BIG CONTROVERSY

Please allow me to place before you the story from the affected 20 lakhs panelists’ view point.

* February/March 2010 Speakasiaonline Pte. Ltd. (SAOL) a company registered in Singapore starts its operation in India.Basically  Speak Asia registration in SingaporeWith Number of 200618809D

* Speak Asia Online Line  (SAOL) starts their operation as a Paid Surveys  Provider company, in its first or its launch phase, and its tag line was “We Value your Opinion”. As When People Joined and Answers the Surveys they get Paid .

* Because of the unique idea combined with aggressive field support from the company, SAOL grew at a phenomenon speed and in short time of less than a year SAOL panel size grew to a whopping 20 lakh panelists.

* The huge size of the SAOL family along with a pan India presence spread over every demographic
possible made it the biggest provider of survey panels on the international panel exchanges.

* All the panelists have always been paid promptly and regularly by the company till the
12th May, 2011, But on 11th May A news Channel Named "Star News" show a news Star News Exposes Speak Asia and and Some of the Politicians such as Kirit Somaya as Letter by Dr. Kirit Somaiya Against Speak Asia on 18 May 2011 .On 16th We ( SAOL ) arrange speak asia press conference  where all our Speak Asia Management Including Mr. Manoj Kumar CEO , Tarak Bajpai ( COO ) , Narayanan Rajagopalan , Mr. Vivek Gautam ( Chief Marketing Officer ) , Sanjeev Mehta ( Country Head Sales ) and Sanjeev Dwived. In This Press Conference Mr . Narayanan Rajagopalan Speak Asia  Explained About Paid Surveys and try to Understand the Speak Asia Business Model But after that the bank accounts were closed by the company bankers
M/s United Overseas Bank, Singapore, on 27th May, 2011 probably due to the cautionary circular
sent out by the RBI vide circular No. DBS.CO.PPD No.16237/11.01.005/2010-11 dated 23rd May, 2011.

* SAOL has been approaching the RBI and various other appropriate agencies to seek permission for
establishing their permanent establishment  and for restarting the operations and restarting the payments to their panelists (us).

* An Individual not connected to SAOL filed a criminal PIL in the Mumbai high court against the Government of Maharashtra, seeking directions to the police to set up a suitable mechanism to avoid any sort of internet fraud to safeguard gullible small time investors.

* The Hon. High Court presided by her ladyship Justice Ranjana Desai was pleased to instruct the EOW to file their affidavit on the mechanism in place to safeguard the investors. She had made some observations which were prime facie observations not in any way pointing to the SAOL.

* The EOW erred in their interpretation of the Hon. Ladyship and started investigating SAOL with a vengeance. The investigation arises out of a FIR filed by one Mr. Khosla, who has been a panelist of the company and has been regularly getting paid by the company till the bank accounts were closed in May, 2011.

* Some FIRs have been filed by few aggrieved panelists all over the country. It is not the case of any complainant that they have not received payments before the bank account was unfortunately closed down.

* SAOL is on record and are committed to restart the payments as soon as the banking channels are restored.

* This sudden stoppage of operations and stoppage of payments of SAOL has adversely affected us the 20 lakh Indians who are the panelists of the company.

All the 20 lakh Panelists had joined the business module to enhance their earnings and see a positive change in their living standards and until May 2011 have experienced the fruits of this association many of whom have experienced a total positive change in their life style.

* It has been almost three months since the monies have freezed up and still all the panelists (barring a few who have complained) are patiently waiting and support the company’s endeavor to get out of the problems and restart the operations.

* The present Association is formed, based and arising, out of support E mails received from all over the country.

* Speak Asia Association  has filed a Speak Asia PIL before the Hon. High Court at Mumbai. Which is now posted for 7th September, 2011, When the Government of Maharashtra is to file its reply.

* Some of the panelists have independently moved the Supreme court and are in the process of filing a PIL before the Hon. Supreme Court asking for ad interim relief and prayed that the monies which are seized by the authorities in India be brought under the custody of the Supreme court and under its supervision be distributed amongst the panelists.

* Important to note here that between Genx Bazaar GOA 9 - 11 May 2011organized one of the
biggest consumer gathering under the name and style of Gen X held in Baga, Goa.

* Gen X saw various reputed brands like, Provouge, Reebok, Gitanjali jewellery, American Tourister,
Samsonite, IFB Electronics, Flying Machine, TVC skyshop, and Skoda Automobiles to name a few,
display their wares for the Speakasians to purchase. A whopping over Rs. 4 to 5 crores were transacted in one day of shopping making it a record single day shopping record.

* The end of Gen X was to usher in the company’s ambitious second phase and the tag line now is “Consumer empowerment”

* The company has grown from being a survey based company and is now into as they call the 5th ‘P’ of marketing i.e. PRECISION MASS MARKETING.

* This second phase was to unleash a revolutionary phase where the company was planning to use this humongous size of its panelists and use their purchasing power to provide the panelists with international quality of products at prizes which were half of what these products are presently available at.

* We the Panelists feel that because of the unprecedented success of the company and its unveiling of its revolutionary new product based platform, has sent jitters in the trade in general and caught the envy of the company’s competitors.

* This unknown enemy of the company is presently orchestrating and unleashing a vicious and malicious negative campaign against the company.

* The Architect of the campaign against the company has unknowingly harmed the interest of 20 lakh Indians and has affected lakhs of marginal players whose kitchen fires were being run on the earnings they received from SAOL.

* The stoppage of the legitimate operations of SAOL has in fact violated the basic fundamental right of each individual “The right to livelihood”

Gita Saar for Management Gurus (In Short)

One of the greatest contributions of India to the world is Holy Gita which is considered to be one of the first revelations from God.
Bhagavad‐Gita the essence of Vedic Literature and a complete guide to practical
life. It provides "all that is needed to raise the consciousness of man to the highest possible level."
Arjuna got mentally depressed when he saw his relatives with whom he has to fight.
(Mental health has become a major international public health concern now). To motivate him the
Bhagavad Gita is preached in the battle field Kurukshetra by Lord Krishna to Arjuna as counseling to
do his duty while multitudes of men stood by waiting. It has got all the management tactics to
achieve the mental equilibrium and to overcome any crisis situation. The Bhagavad Gita can be
experienced as a powerful catalyst for transformation. Bhagavad Gita means song of the Spirit, song
of the Lord. The Holy Gita has become a secret driving force behind the unfoldment of one's life. In
the days of doubt this divine book will support all spiritual searches. This divine book will contribute
to self reflection, finer feeling and deepen one's inner process. Then life in the world can become a
real education—dynamic, full and joyful—no matter what the circumstance. May the wisdom of
loving consciousness ever guide us on our journey? What makes the Holy Gita a practical psychology
of transformation is that it offers us the tools to connect with our deepest intangible essence and we
must learn to participate in the battle of life with right knowledge?
The Holy Gita is the essence of the Vedas, Upanishads. It is a universal scripture applicable to people
of all temperaments and for all times. It is a book with sublime thoughts and practical instructions on
Yoga, Devotion, Vedanta and Action. It is profound in thought and sublime in heights of vision. It
brings peace and solace to souls that are afflicted by the three fires of mortal existence, namely,
afflictions caused by one's own body (disease etc), those caused by beings around one (e.g. wild
animals, snakes etc.), and those caused by the gods (natural disasters, earth‐quakes, floods etc).
Mind can be one's friend or enemy. Mind is the cause for both bondage and liberation. The word
mind is derived from man to think and the word man derived from Manu (Sanskrit word for man).
"The Supreme Lord is situated in everyone's heart, O Arjuna, and is directing the wanderings of all
living entities, who are seated as on a machine, made of the material energy."
There is no theory to be internalized and applied in this psychology. Ancient practices spontaneously
induce what each person needs as the individual and the universal coincide. The work proceeds
through intellectual knowledge of the playing field (jnana yoga), emotional devotion to the ideal
(bhakti yoga) and right action that includes both feeling and knowledge (karma yoga). With ongoing
purification we approach wisdom. The Bhagavad Gita is a message addressed to each and every
human individual to help him or her to solve the vexing problem of overcoming the present and
progressing towards a bright future. Within its eighteen chapters is revealed a human drama. This is
the experience of everyone in this world, the drama of the ascent of man from a state of utter
dejection, sorrow and total breakdown and hopelessness to a state of perfect understanding, clarity,
renewed strength and triumph.
Mind is very restless, forceful and strong, O Krishna, it is more difficult to control the mind than to
control the wind ~ Arjuna to Sri Krishna

In this modern world the art of Management has become a part and parcel of everyday life, be it at
home, in the office or factory and in Government. In all organizations, where a group of human
beings assemble for a common purpose irrespective of caste, creed, and religion, management
principles come into play through the management of resources, finance and planning, priorities,
policies and practice. Management is a systematic way of carrying out activities in any field of
human effort.
Its task is to make people capable of joint performance, to make their weaknesses irrelevant, says
the Management Guru Peter Drucker. It creates harmony in working together ‐ equilibrium in
thoughts and actions, goals and achievements, plans and performance, products and markets. It
resolves situations of scarcity, be they in the physical, technical or human fields, through maximum
utilization with the minimum available processes to achieve the goal. Lack of management causes
disorder, confusion, wastage, delay, destruction and even depression. Managing men, money and
materials in the best possible way, according to circumstances and environment, is the most
important and essential factor for a successful management. It should literally transform how people
think and help them finally realize the potential of a truly universal knowledge that is wisdom.

Gold is Golden

It's true.

The rich ARE getting richer.

Whether the economy is up or down and whether unemployment is high or low...
the billionaires of the world always seem two steps ahead of EVERYONE ELSE.

In fact, Forbes recently reported that over the past year alone, the richest people in
the world are now $1 trillion richer!

That's $1,000,000,000,000... or twelve zeros.

All the while, everyone else's retirement funds, investments, and salaries either remained
stagnant or dropped!
It doesn't just seem unfair.

It's downright infuriating!

And get this:

They're making their killing, right now, through ditching their stock portfolios!

That's right. The world's wealthiest people – guys like George Soros, Bill Gates, and
Warren Buffett – aren't using the stock market to expand their fortunes.

In fact, they're running from investments traded in ANY paper currency.

Instead, they're stocking up on as much precious metals as they can afford.

and GOLD is making HUGE money around the GLOBE

Personal Perception

Different people have different perception. One man's meat could be another man's poison. A couple bought a donkey from the market. On the way home, a boy commented, "Very stupid. Why neither of them rides on the donkey? "Upon hearing that, the husband let the wife ride on the donkey. He walked besides them. Later, an old man saw it and commented, "The husband is the head of family. How can the wife ride on the donkey while the husband is on foot?" Hearing this, the wife quickly got down and let the husband ride on the donkey.

Further on the way home, they met an old Lady. She commented, "How can the man ride on the donkey but let the wife walk. He is no gentleman."
The husband thus quickly asked the wife to join him on the donkey. Then, they met a young man. He commented, "Poor donkey, how can you hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you." Hearing that, the husband and wife immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shoulders.

It seems to be the only choice left. Later, on a narrow bridge, the donkey was frightened and struggled. They lost their balance and fell into the river. You can never have everyone praise you, nor will everyone condemn you. Never in the past, not at present, and never will be in the future.

Thus, do not be too bothered by others words if our conscience is clear..

There is no market for your emotions,so never advertise your feelings, just display your attitude.

I know it sounds weird but after seeing the world around me I can say this quote is true.

I agree that Love makes world go around but emotions which led to attachment hurts as
nothing lasts forever.

So enjoy the time you are in with person you are going around and then cherish memories.
Dont try to bind anyone and yourself too for anyone..

Money Money

Hey

Tips for Stock Brokers

It is a human nature to make blunder in stock market. Though, there always a chance to learn from your mistakes and get better yourself for the long run. Here are some ways to turn into an enhanced trader.

1. Set Stop Losses and Take Profits - “Set and forget” trading is usually profitable. When you place each trade, keep in mind to place your exit and stop loss, and then let the market be your guide. Have a preset limit of how much you are keen to win and how much you can lose. Technical analysis will tell you the best price for selling and the best place for buying. Support and resistance points are the best places to put limit orders.

2. Stick to Your Weapons - Do not try to run from the market. The only way to bigger in trading profit is to stay in the game and keep trading. Running from the trades and the action will keep you beyond the market, whether it is hot or cold. Glue to your trading plan and ratify trading discipline are the keys to producing profits.

3. Eliminate high chance for trading - You would not imagine making consistent profits at the roulette wheel, and you should not do the same with your investments. The active, professional trader only takes quality trades opposed to quantity of trades.

4. Don’t watch Minute-to-Minute - Swing traders should be keen to avoiding the minute-to-minute movements. It is easy to set an exit point that will not be hit for three weeks, but then close a potentially profitable trade due to minute-by-minute movements. There is no reason to get out of a trade for quick profits if you are in for the long haul. Small difficulties create temporary stress and can reduce swing traders to day traders. Niche trading works because you are specialized in your own area.

5. Accept That Full-Time Day trading is rough - The vicissitude of full-time day trading is very stressful. Find something you can do each day to wind down and get rid of your stressful day-to-day anxiety. Stress will make you think differently and trade another way. A professional trader will need to find ways to vent their aggravation as bad days do happen to the best of traders.

6. Pick Swing Traders or Day Traders - Know exactly what kind of trader you want to be. It is difficult to be great at swing trading while next the short term movements of day trading. Describe what kind of strategy you want to follow and stick with it.

7. Don’t be attached - You are out to make money, not be married to a stock. Even if you have the feeling that this stock is “the one,” you should be ready to put it when the price is right.

8. Talk to Additional Traders - Talk to other traders with more or different experiences. Getting a feel for the markets is supreme to producing profits. If you can get trading losing to a point where it just comes logically to you, all the better.

Actually,I couldn't do my job now without having an MBA but, on the other hand, I can't claim that I use particular skills or techniques in my job that I will learn in the MBA. It's more that it gave me a general sense of confidence and a grounding in all business areas and types of people.

Also, I m planning to invest in Share Market as Sensex is @ towering heights.
