Qutub Festival last day today in Delhi

Delhi’s musical line-up just got bigger. The annual Qutub Festival is back, and this time around, they are celebrating contemporary music, with some of India’s best known singers.

The musical extravaganza, which kicked off on 4th of Nov, will see singers Sunidhi Chauhan, Sonu Nigam, Shreya

Ghoshal, Sukhwinder and KK perform in the coming days. Until 2010, the festival focussed on Sufi and classical music and dance, but this year, they’ve decided to keep things contemporary. “Keeping in mind the response we received on the new format of this music festival last year, this year, we shall be focusing on contemporary music and displaying the performances of some of the best singers in this genre,” says Rawel Singh, Secretary Punjabi Academy, the organisers of the festival under the aegis of the Department of Art, Culture and Languages.

The fans of the film, Slumdog Millionaire, can get to hear singer Sukhwinder Singh croon the Oscar winning track - Jai Ho. “On public demand, Sukhwinder has confirmed that he will mesmerise the audience with Jai Ho,” says Singh.

While singer KK will be performing his famous number - Chhod Aye Hum Woh Galiyan from the film Maachis among other popular songs, singers Sunidhi Chauhan and Sonu Nigam will sing their hit Bollywood numbers.

The passes for the event are free of cost and are available at Dilli Haat (INA), Dilli Haat (Pitampura), Delhi Tourism Office (Baba Kharak Singh Marg) and Punjabi Academy (Motia Khan).
